To be fair, the guys they bumped on are not the majority. But it kinda comes to the area/spot they choose to shoot (everyone picks that spot). I am a greek girl and no matter how much I love these videos and channel, I felt Marina got unlucky this time. She got the 3 of the types that would give...not the best answers. And got the worst possible english accents too. I am not even a man but I felt bad for Greek men because even when they said the "positive" things, those guys made our men look bad. And about the bad traits...it got worse...Not all people are like that. Most of the men I know are open-minded and respectful. They can be stubbornly flirty (even if you tell them you play for the other team) but you won't see things that happen in other places happening here when they get a no. They are also super friendly, dative and protective. And if nothing else humour is our top trait, even if it's lines, puns (we are crazy for puns) or jokes. In fact if you wanna get to know Greeks the best, watch Greek stand up comedy. And most of men even if they try to play macho (like those guys) actually respect women a lot. And about them having the upper hand? Hahaha, that's a joke. They might want to have the upper hand but it's always the woman that has the control. And we are a country that men get really victimized. Statistics are rather scary on that matter. This is actually the worst characteristic of greek women...while we are sociable, friendly, dative and witty, we are grumpy and manipulative, having a specialty on making people feel like trash. As everywhere in the world there is a great variety of people. But I feel that in Greece the variety and difference are even more intense and edgy because we are kinda intense and edgy as personalities. We even part our people (mostly men) to so many different categories and each has their so different traits, you would be shocked. But in almost all categories 2 things are certain. Very talkative, either they talk about comics, philosophy, politics, football, cars, bands, women or anything (all are different types here) and very hardcore to their type. The atheists are fanatic atheists, the christians/patriots are really into it, the sophisticated pretty much think they've saw the light, the football fanatics are fanatics, the geeks are SUPER GEEKS (these can be the best guys you'll meet)...no matter what they are, they are going to take it to the end. We are very expressive that may mean loud our touchy as well and we value on having a good time. Each in our ways. Either you are out or at home with Greek friends you match with, you can't get bored. Women or men you will have to be ready for endless and passionate conversations if you associate with us. In Greece, dating varies from traditional to Nordic-like, depending on the individual. Those who have travelled, studied, lived abroad have different attitudes than some old-fashioned, less exposed ones. It is totally up to the individual. These examples of people who answered are certainly not the norm. Greeks value the family, but very few depend on the family's approval. The male-female stereotype exists but not so strong; in general, Greek society is a fairly accepting society. Greek women are independent, the younger ones are not very much into macho types, and they have no problem telling a guy to go out if they find him interesting. I don't think that the hunter-prey issue applies in Greece any more. It is more an American, Latino or oriental thing. In general, Greeks like someone not to be a slob; appearance is important, not too showy and have good manners.

The Greeks normally don't marry foreigners since they consider themselves as the best nation on the earth. The same applies to the Spaniards. Both nations think very locally. The Italians are better. They are more open minded, more curious and in the north of Italy more educated. And France is maybe the most reasonable and advanced mediterranean country.

Kalispéra! I am surprised that Greek men want the freedom while in a relationship, since they are jealous kinds like any southern European type with still a little bit of a patriarchal society, or am I wrong? Bit of both? More modern and open relationships now? Maybe it's different in big cities like Athens. I'm just a tad bit confused.

@nikosgorgias78565 жыл бұрын
nah, jealousy is not a male only thing, I mean I've known both men and women that can be pretty possessive and jealous in a relationship. The sentiment these guys are trying to express is that while in a relationship they still want to be able to have a little free time for themselves (eg going out with their friends without asking "permission"), and by "freedom" they do not mean having multiple sexual partners, and the same goes for women too. And yes, you could argue that there is a discernible difference between big cities and countryside regarding the way intersex relationships are conducted, with cities being more "modern", while villages and smaller rural areas are more "backwater".

Those 2 guys are a very good sample of the Greek mentality. The cesspit of patriarchy, misogyny, homophobia, racism to name few. The last country in Europe when it comes to gender equality according to the newest European research. Greece, the country where if a woman is murdered from her husband/partner/boyfriend, everyone - including the news - accredit the murder to "excess love". The place where women don't feel safe to walk alone in the night. Where sexual harassment is perceived as flirting not only from guys like those two hunters, even some women justify this behavior. Maybe people that comment on this video "you just had the bad luck to interview people that are not a representative sample of the country" or something like that, don't really see the problem because they are raised to think that this is normal. This is how I was raised too. But believe me when I say it, I only realized it when I left Greece 2 years ago and moved abroad that touching your lower back and your ass when they want to move around in a crowded space is NOT normal. And that's the simplest example I can give you. Not to mention the frequency of catcalling, domestic violence, rapes and all those. As Greek, I start with, what is (+) for Greek men when comes the moment to dating some woman from different country. 1st) I could say that the majority of Greek men, have right accent to talk, because probably we receive it through our family or closed relatives, (start a social conversation, some friendly chat etc) we have civilized way of how to approach the other party without been rude or clowns!! I believe, a big number of young Greeks now days (knows almost fluently English), something where actually help foreign ladies to understand the Greek generation. Compare to those, who do not, know, how to talk properly. Ladies who does not knows the Greek way of dating "usually are afraid". Now days, the Greek language have "many tricky hidden words". The "Greek body language" back in my days (95 - 05 definitely was the biggest crime in Greek history), the young Greeks of my generation that time, we used too much body language to describe - explain something to some girl we dating that time. I don't know what is happening now days? 2nd) The worst stuff now (our stress we have on speaking English with a foreign young lady, while we try to make good impression to them, the one annoying thing, almost all young men across country, is we have plenty beards = moustache, which is not healthy, does not like to foreign ladies (unless the father or brothers of lady we dating, have beards = moustache!) Then the situation is different. 3rd) Greek men, have a sick + toxic = poisonous habit, enjoy smoke too much compare to other people across globe. As far I know, foreign ladies, does not enjoy that much smoke (unless they smoke the same heavy!) 4th) While a woman from abroad travel Greece, her expectations, is to meet some people who knows how to talk + open a social discussion = friendly chat. To make her feel like she is her home country. 5th) Is good for Greeks to practise their English skills in every day life (24/7), even while they are among Greeks.
