Do you have an opinion about the Citroën three piece apex seals, patent US3894820? People at Aixro said it are good in corners. And about Citroën pt US3705818, for rubbing surfaces coating? It seems there are experimental data Nikasil being better than hard Chrome, but finding someone resurfacing housings with nikasil is hard.

Thanks for the information. But from what I understand, if we put more resistant ceramic apexes, we will inevitably ruin the housing more quickly... I don't know what is better... But it will certainly be more expensive.
@KyleMohanRacing7 ай бұрын
why would there be more resistance?
@dgmdgm72717 ай бұрын
@@KyleMohanRacing I think it's a bit like brakes. You can use harder brake pads, but you will necessarily wear out the disc more quickly.

I would imagine if it's got enough oil,it should be ok
@KyleMohanRacing7 ай бұрын
Yeah, as long as lubrication and fuel delivery are good, it should be fine. Just expensive. As long as you don't break them somehow it's a good seal. Although long term carbon buildup will still be an issue in an RX8

What makes ceramics unsuitable for a non-turbo street car?

price they are $2,300.00 ish per set.

if you go with RX-7 height apexes in a Renesis, what can you do about the corner seal metal plug?
@KyleMohanRacing7 ай бұрын
Simply run an RX7 corner. Or we can get RX8 corners modified but added expenses without a big benefit. Lots of RX7 corner seal options.

So, is it safe to assume ceramic seals will cause more wear on the housings for OEM street use?
@jtso76367 ай бұрын
Ceramic seals are supposed to have lower friction than OEM. It seems like no one has used them in a mildly modified street car since they're about $1500 for 1 rotor, so there's probably little data on use in that situation.
@KyleMohanRacing7 ай бұрын
no, they will last a long time as a ceramic seal can if in proper conditions. but the rest of the motor still wears out at normal rate...
@KyleMohanRacing7 ай бұрын
@jtso7636 Actually we built a couple street cars with ceramic seals. (Expensive) but happy to do if requested. The issue was usually lack of maintenance. Or some external component Failing and damaging the motor anyway. So, the ceramic seal was just an expensive part to break. ... - We generally suggest that if you want $2300 and Apex seals. Then you should be putting every other part in the motor as new as well. Very few motors start with all new parts. There's for very few street motors. Start off with ceramic apex seals.
