Hello, I live in Korea. I've been using the Optima Battery Yellow Top D31A for about 3 years, but it's been discharged about 3 times, and it's not charged and it's discharged in a day. I don't use this expensive battery for this. There is no a/s here, and I want to contact Optima headquarters because I am frustrated. Can you help me? Sorry for using a translator. I spend four to five times as much on a regular battery, and I don't think it makes sense. Help me. In Korea, we don't know where to ask and don't take responsibility.

The battery space in a car is prismatic. Why would a spiral cell design that geometrically incapable of using all of the space that would be used with prismatic cells be the best battery?

Plates using 99.99% pure virgin lead perform better and last longer than plates using recycled lead. While SPIRALCELLs do not maximize all the space available, the design generally allows for taller cells within the same footprint to make up for some of that shortfall. Robust cast straps that connect the cells allows for better current flow into and out of the battery. Batteries with our SPIRALCELL design have about 30 internal components, while batteries with flat plate cells have more than 120 internal components and they are far more resistant to damage from vibration.

@@optimabatteriesI have a Optima 34/78 Red Top. Manufacturer date sticker says 7/16. I have had it in my Dodge D-150 for a year or so, then I installed it in my F-250 since 2018. I have always had a 4 gauge wire ran into the truck to a 5 Farad capacitor then into distribution block. That feeds 2 amplifiers and a 1200 watt power inverter. I live in Metro Detroit Michigan, lake effect snow/cold. Negative 10-25 temperatures (with the wind chill). My battery is still up to the task with a current voltage at 12.3. I will happily pay for a Optima, since I only have to buy one every few trucks.

Thanks for choosing OPTIMA! REDTOPs are not designed or warrantied for deep-cycle use, including car audio, so when it comes time to replace it, please consider a YELLOWTOP. Fully-charged, your REDTOP should measure at least 12.6-12.8V. Keep it fully-charged whenever possible to maximize performance and lifespan.
