Andrew, it's possible to use a drop sinker and hook but they are designed to be used with a jighead which would be much more effective

There's a lot of good fishing spots, I had one for a few years till it was closed by others wrecking it for everyone else... I've heard about a few AI programs over the last few years, it really does require data taken from forums as well as accounting for conditions, and tides, etc. One program was being developed by a member of a popular fishing forum. As someone who has shared free info to help others , not just on that forum, but I got burnt bad years back on another forum for an unrelated hobby, I left those forum as I give out info for free, not to have it used on a paid product and I get nothing in return but request for more data. Nope, they can go get "fusking cloth prockered" Otherwise, well done. Next will be to get one of those Boston dynamics robots to actually start using a rod😁

Honestly it for me it depends on the current usually low current like rivers I'll use lightest possible to allow it to sink and retrieve more naturally.. but on the rocks or off into deeper more fast paced currents I'll use a heavier one for a more darting action.

Best alround size Fcfishers is a 1/16oz size #2 hook. If you want a bit more weight to compromise for some other factors, 1/12oz works well too as it fells a lot heavier but it doesn't appear to sink much quicker
