Every weapon has the potential to be great but you have to leverage their strengths. Chain sword- ease of use, good perks, combos+shoulder bash, stomps. Knife- speed and unique charge perks (shoulder bash/shsdow stab) Power Sword-Leverage power style and Power Rake, lots of power Rake. Almost every single bulwark I see ignores half its moves. Power Fist- hardest one but it's value shows when you get the ground slam or 8m range perk and leverage the range it claims to have. Power Hammer- Bonks good!

@@warriorfire8103 it's just the wrong understanding of what it's for. I've heard a lot of telling about some "advanced stance changing techniques" and powersword being about "constant stance juggle" while in reality you don't need any of it. All you need is: regular stance for majors and above, power stance for waves. Using AOE on big crowds and power rake to either replace 1-st hit in power stance combo or use in regular stance after 3-4 hits to have big solo target damage. It's literally the most "key and lock" type of weapon in the game.

Full Throttle is a perk in the chainsword tree. There is a tech with it that allows you to skip the first light attack of the chainsword's combo. What this means is that you only need one attack to go into shoulder bash, allowing you to spam a high damage stun with decent aoe. It also means that you only need one more light attack to get to stomp. Usually, you hold down the melee button to initiate the charge of Full Throttle. But for the tech, you hold down the melee button for a beat or two before releasing. This will result in your marine canceling Full Throttle before it ever starts charging and going straight into what would be the second light attack of your combo. There's a skill floor where you have to get used to how long you need to hold down the melee button, but the tech can be optimized to be very short if you get the timing down. And if you do master it, it raises chainsword's efficiency even higher than it already is.

the problem with skipping 1st strike in comparison to going for usual shoulder bash combos is that it more often puts you in situations where you are locked in shoulder bash animation and cannot dodge red attack. i deem normal shoulder bash combo sufficient in a sense of it always outhealing gaunt damage while limiting the amount of time i'm stuck in lengthy animation unable to dodge due to how "fast" (sluggish but fast in comparison to how slow other chainsword attacks are) 1st 2 attacks are.

The shoulder bash is the hardest hitting frontal attack for the chainsword besides full throttle with a 2 second charge. it also covers more ground then the dodge whirl helping you get back and forth between majoris. the stomp can be followed up immediately by full throttle. i use this combo to bully a single majoris. ill sholder bash combo to close distance and benefit from less range damage for doing a light combo start the stomp combo and while im stomping.. i wait for the parry and if the stomp goes off i start full throttle which usually flat out kills it on lower difficulty but its an execution on ruthless and lethal becarfull in groups and dont gett greedy always bail on damage for the parry it cancels stomp and full throttle. If you time it right you can get the stomp and the parry then start full throttle or a shoulder bash combo

on lethal I use fencing power sword with bulwark, and fencing chainsword with tactical and vanguard. I don't do lethal on the other classes as I'm pretty bad with those.
I really wish stomp knocked enemies down towards you, it'd be *so* useful. I havent managed to finish a solo lethal yet, and as such have not even *tried* a public one, but I use the block chainsword on vanguard, the fencing chainsword on bulwark, or the balanced hammer on assault. I do intend to switch to blocking once I get better at the timing and arent relying on gun-strikes so much (because balanced and block have the same window for perfects).

Blocking chainsword rocks, while the balance one is utter garbage due to how long it takes to execute the combos with it. I‘m not using the fencing chainsword too often because the damage feels really low when you are used to the new block variant. Takes ages to kill majoris with it. I like the balance hammer - very nice damage, while you still get access to perfect parries.

Block version of chainswoard in relic tier is very powerful when we can master it and I love this gift from the emperor so much. My assault already forget the thunder hammer and use block chainsword everytimes, I understand now why space wolf love this thing so much.

Yes this is what I run. Your add clear is covered by the melta, so you can focus on single target with your melee weapon. Balanced knife is fast so I can often stunlock majors and it does a lot more damage than fencing while still being able to get gun strikes. And if you run the parry window perk, it feels like a fencing weapon with balanced damage.

No one will care but my go to chainsword combo is rb, rb hold, rb hold, rb, rb, rb hold, rb hold, rb, rb, rb, rb hold.. ooorr in other words.... slash, kick, punch, slash, slash, barge, punch, slash, slash, slash, stomp.. (i think thats the righr combinations on slashing and holding?) More or less keeps a single Majoris stunned for most of the time, is also really good for when youre in a sea of minoris but remember to change direction to behind you when you heavy attack so ypu dont get swamped

As far which weapon is the easiest to use while also putting out a lot of damage, it’s hands down the fencing chainsword. However, IMO the block chainsword is the best overall melee weapon, if you are able to get the timing down.

Shield bashing minors is an easy way to get gun strikes and armor. But you have to use it with the bottom row shield bash perk. It sucks without it

Imma be honest, all relic melee are good at lethal, but the problem lies on how yoh manage it, main fencing or main Andrenaline Blow (lol)

Oculus + block knife on vanguard is my favorite tyranid loadout. Definitely doing heavy attacks with the knife is the way to go. Heavy attacks are good at clearing minoris. I agree that gunstrike parry flow is not my favorite because it doesn’t feel like true melee.

Except the power fist that has some sort of identity crisis now (because hammer and power sword do everything it can but better), every other weapon is undeniable S-tier. Chainsword after block rework raised from B-tier to one of the most convenient and damaging weapons in the game. Only hammer can nuke majors faster. Hammer itself is what I consider the best just because it's present on assault. Groundpound with blocking hammer is the single best wave clear in the game comparable only with heavy plasma, and the only thing that kills bosses faster is broken tactical's GL. Power sword is still very versatile, both fencing and blocking are very good. And knife does very good solo target damage (especially on sniper with +100% damage perk).

Ya power hid its identity in the 8m range and ground slam perks. If it's base heavies had the +50% hit limit ground slam has or the range of the 8m, it'd have lot not fans and be way least confusing

@warriorfire8103 it lacks damage, not range. Hammer deals twice more. Every time you perform charged attack in the group of minors, you just scatter them all over the place, you swing again and scatter them even more. Power sword does this job faster and with less headache. And any other weapon kills majors lot faster. It's not entirely bad, but has not much use currently.
