@@darrenlamb5640 I remember the name from the Paul McCartney Beatles song “Rocky Raccoon”, which mentions “Gideons Bible”, which I believe is a group that put bibles in hotel rooms across the country. Personally I would never open up a bible, but it works for some people I guess. This is from memory so excuse me if I get some of it wrong: Rocky raccoon, fell back into his room, only to find Gideons Bible. Well Gideon checked out, and he left it no doubt, to help with good Rocky’s revival.

Great video. I love the Kansbol. As an addition to the line-up I want to suggest the 510. This little knife is very capable and is remarkably strong. This ultra light and compact knife can do almost everything the compagnion can do . It's the perfect e.d.c. or backup blade.

Anyone looking to purchase their first Mora would do well to watch this review . Thanks Aaron , as always , for this very objective , honest and practical assessment of these outrageously popular bushcraft / survival blades . I actually like the sheaths on my Moras (regular Companion MG & High Q Allround) but would have to agree that the belt clips are a bit awkward and less than ideal . Since I usually carry my Mora inside the pack (always rocking my mid-size SRK instead) , the clip isn't really an issue for me , but instead have added a hi-vis paracord lanyard , girth hitched around and through the belt clip hole , that is highly adjustable for length , so that when in camp it can be used as a dangler , a neck carry , a tree hanger , etc. Perhaps someone might find this carry mod idea useful . It has definitely improved things here ! All the best . Glenn

Just bought a Kansbol and took it for its maiden voyage in the George Washington National Forest. It did everything I needed it to do. It really does feel good in your hand. The blade was super sharp from the factory and I was super happy with it. I got the orange knife in case I ever dropped it, it would be easier to spot.

I love the vintage laminated steel Mora knives that you can sometimes stumble upon. Current production laminated steel Mora knives are good as well, but I like to think that the vintage ones are just a tad bit better. They are also completely ambidextrous and the laminated steel makes for easy upkeep of that scandi-grind. Personally, I also like the old school 510 (the new 511 is ok, too), especially for the price and the 440 (Scout model, sadly discontinued) as well as the Mora 106, which is hard to beat for a dedicated woodcarving knife.

Hi, I got many Moras, but after a short time I sold a lot of them. My favorit knifes are 2, the Mora Kansbol, I got 2 different colours in green and orange and the new model of 2019 the Mora Companion Spark. The Spark fits cool in my hand, got size 10 in gloves, and you got the firesteel in the handle, it´s the big brother of the "light my fire" knive which had corperated with Mora, but they don´t sell this knife any more. All you need for camping or hiking or light bushcraft is the Companion Spark with a very sharp spine in my opinion !!! Good channel, good videos, keep rollin man, like it. Greetings from germany. Rob

Moras are like razor blades. They are mass produced, cheap and nondescript...but they work, and work well. If you lose or break one, it's no big deal and it's not something you're going to hand down to your kids. Like potato chips or peanuts, you can't have just one. Get a bag full of Moras and put them wherever you're likely to be, or go. Great companion.

Kansbol is good, but the Classic 2 is better. Ergonomics are good with both, the blade on either can do the same work, and the cost is much less. The thickness of the Classic 2 spine is strong enough for “knife chores” and can easily filed to 90 degree angles. Outside the Classic line I do agree the Garberg and Kansbol have the best ergonomics and of these the Kansbol is best. Fancy steels are nice, but has a Mora Classic 2 ever broken due to poor steel?

So for $35 bucks, if you don't like it or feel comfortable w/ it as your outdoor knife (non fish/hunt of course) it still has a life and a purpose!

I think the market would welcome a 'Kansbol Robust ' option with the same handle, 14c28n, 2.5mm stock, plain Scandi grind with no funky tip. My favorite Mora is the old Buscraft Force: essentially it's a 2.5mm 12c27 version of the 'Black'. I do prefer the Kansbol handle, though. Imo 2.5mm w/o the secondary tip grind is the best blend of stiffness, strength, finesse and slicing ability. No need for full tang - 3/4 is fine.
@MIIIB3 жыл бұрын
I don't see the low price as 'best'. The best it's the better steel, better capacity, better longevity, better edge....... But not lower price. Anyway. I gravitate more with the 2000 more cushion handle, polish blade, rough spine, for me it's an upgrade Kansbol. Garberg rude and 2000 Precision it's for me the best duo. Great review !

I never felt the need for something more expensive than a Mora Companion. Grind down the spine to a true 90° and drill a lanyard hole (easy, as it has a 3/4 tang) and you're good to go. Never lost one from my belt, the belt clip never broke and only one time the lanyard got caught on a branch and pulled the knife out of the sheath which I noticed immediately. Stay safe and take care

Thanks for the video, now I have some hope for Mora. I purchased a small knife for carving (2 inch blade), . It is laminated and holds a great edge, , , I then bought a low end model ( 3 1/2 blade, in style of the companion), what a peice of crap. the companion I have isn't too bad, but the low buck, 11 dollar colored handle knives suck, hard to sharpen, don't hold an edge etc.

From the Mora web page...so straight from the horses mouth "Mora Robust This knife is designed and intended for Scandinavian construction workers. Here, our priority is a sharp and durable edge with a good grip, which means that the look of the spine isn’t a high priority feature. You are more than welcome to use any of our knives for your intended needs, but keep in mind that the spine will be “raw” (not grinded) on most craftsmen and construction knives. Therefore, it’s not compatible with a fire starter." Even the Mora company is perplexed about you people using a craft-knife as a bush-craft knife. The Robust is meant to be used by construction workers and is not to be relied on in a life and death situation....Just saying :p

I just crazy and bought a mora new/old model 510 craft-line has high quality carbon steel C100 steel. The same steel the Mora Garberg has for $60 mora. The sheath is a piece of dog excrement so I will use one my others or get the Kanibol. These knives are all the same labor hrs. I used to do mfg costing. If the steel & plastic is same? The cheapest knife is as good as the most expensive as these reviews show. You have to nail the sheath down and still its dangerous to pull the knife. The belt loop would not fit a child’s belt. And its not like other sheaths it has to be threaded to get it on a belt. Morikniv can shove this where the sun doesn’t shine. Ty for that mora adapted suggestion. Not sure it will fir this awful sheath is probably from ancient times? There’s Ukraine knives with hardwood handles, good steel scandia grind and leather sheaths price at the companion price. Go figure?

Cansbul vs. Garberg: I think you talked around the issue, and focused on price. In my mind, it's the thickness of the Garberg -- in terms of the increased blade angle -- some are implying that finest shavings from a stick are too thick for fire-starting; vs. the Cansbul's added profile to a thinner blade. What does the thinner pointed end of the Cansbul do for me? This was not discussed.

Kansbol is not the most expensive but expensive enough for me. Let me explain. My perfect Mora is the companion. Just a little modification makes it perfect and does almost everything. It's perfect for me because it is so cheap it's expendable I do not have to worry about losing it. Some knives are too expensive you're, well, I feel like I'm having gold strapped on my pants. Kansbol is not that expensive but it's expensive enough for me to worry about losing it. Nobody wants to lose a blade especially in a survival situation but if I lose one, I prefer that is not expensive. A mora is good enough that a $1k knife is only better by a small margin. This is the reason why I think, despite having many knives, ppl would usually rather have a Mora like companion on him most times.
@MasterK9Trainer6 жыл бұрын
I don't see why anyone would spend the extra money for the Garberg and then carry a cheaper model. As far as the Kansbol, the "profile grind" is well liked by people who have one and the Outdoor 2000 and the Bushcraft Forest also got positive comments (Not only on KZbin) for the tapered tip and it's cutting ability. I am still trying to decide if I like it or not. Visually speaking that angled line where the bevel is created by the taper just bugs me. An overall complaint of mine is that Mora will make a blade only available with a profile grind or like the Bushcraft series, the Black is carbon, but the stainless is that blindly bright orange. The companions, the 511's and the 746 models come in a variety of colors now, but it often feels like it's a "take it or leave it" choice with Mora. I'd buy the Bushcraft Forest without hesitation except it isn't a 3.2 mm blade and it has the profile grind which I don't need. And yet it's on clearance.... but I am hesitating :)
