the fact that it stores everything on the cloud sold me. like you said, I also have a jeep I take the fam on and I love that everything syncs. good video

yeah exactly that is what sold me! its pretty great! im sure the app will continue to improve as they are updating
@steph4050 Жыл бұрын
Not sure if I miss something. But how can use an app that requires cloud connection if you are in the wood with no cell coverage? GPS chips on phone are super bad and not precise unless they have wifi around.

Thanks for the review. Living in a state with almost no legal trails outside of State/Federal OHV areas - and having both apps - I still find GaiaGPS more useful.
@RWWRENTAL4 жыл бұрын
ive found Gaia to be really good but for some reason, pretty slow on the phones. I might give it another shot as they also have been updating their stuff often!
@314adv4 жыл бұрын
@@RWWRENTAL - Interesting feedback - I have run Gaia on 4 different phones when cell service wasn't available - 2 of them kept up like a champ, two of them lagged really bad - all iPhones. the 5 and 7 did the best, the 6S and SE lag. I know use my old 7 as a dedicated GPS unit. Thanks for the vids - keep them up.

I am not sold in it. Almost any app that is for phones are internet dependent. Not a problem if you can down load the map, which I am sure you can with that app, and I am sure that is not too much of a problem if you travel within the US and other developed countries. But when you travel through third world countries which lack internet service in many of the remote places, and you can be without internet for days, how many of it's features will be unusable? Additionally, yes it has a lot of information for the US, but how good is it when it comes to international travel? I am planing a trip through Central and South America, does it have the same extensive information for those countries too? I am very skeptic that they do.

Side comment, you guys are so lucky you can ride all these mountain trails legally in US! I wish it was also the case in Europe.
@ridgetop81614 жыл бұрын
Especially out in the Western U.S. in places like Nevada, Idaho, Utah...endless miles of trails, dirt roads, mining roads...I tend to take it for granted. But holy crud, I can ride for a 1,000 miles and maybe touch payment once or twice.
@szymonchalupka4 жыл бұрын
@@ridgetop8161 I call it paradise :) In the same time entering mountain trail or even the forrest in most of the EU countries might end up being very expensive. In some cases maybe even put you in jail.
@ridgetop81614 жыл бұрын
@@szymonchalupka That's too bad, but I guess a lot of it has to do with population and pressure on the ecosystems and the number of other users of the land. Out here, I just spent three days riding in a couple beautiful desert mountain ranges. I saw a total of three other people, and that was at the entrance to the whole range. :) I think every location has its plus and minuses, but I do love our wild lands out here :).
@szymonchalupka4 жыл бұрын
@@ridgetop8161 exactly, in most of the cases it's related to protection of the ecosystems and people walking on the trails. On the other hand nearly 30% of my country, Poland, is covered by forrests. Which I think is similar rate as US. Still, I cannot enter any forrest with the motorbike. Well, time to plan some bike-holiday in the US. As soon as this pandemic comes to end.

Have you had any trouble with the vibration damaging your phone? I like trail just like you are riding. I am worried that the camera or other parts of the phone won't survive. I am using a Garmin 700i for now, but like the better maps with onx.
