I've had my true temper wheel barrow for about ten years,but it's about had it. Replaced the wheel last year and now its needing a pair of handles. The thin metal around the trays bolts is cracking so I probably wont bother. My next one will be a contractor grade Jackson.

The best barrow wheels were the very old steel band style still used for heavy duty barrows like concrete carts. Pneumatic tires are used because they're cheap and the maker is not concerned about their longevity. Barrows do not need suspension so they don't need pneumatic tires of any sort.

I would do more than a couple pumps.... have you looked at the inside of the wheel? There is a large cavity in there. Going to be a lot of pumps before grease ever gets to those bearings. Just going to be sitting on the inside of the shaft somewhere. Maybe switch to an nlgi #1. Hope those bearings come pre-lubed. Probably do with like mc-shit oil/grease.

Thanks for the video. It seems that in all of my moves, I somehow lost my grease gun. So now when I replace my wheelbarrow wheel I have to buy a grease gun and a grease cartridge, or is there a cheaper option?

Skip to 2:30. The black spacers are part of the universal kit. The keep the tire centered and different wheel barrows have different spacing widths.

The extra silver bearings are for different size Axel rod to go through it, in your case you probably don't need them.

Hey Carson, thanks for the video. How's the flat free holding up so far? Have you experienced any flat-spotting in the tire? We are all familiar with the problems you can have with pneumatic tires, so after having this new one for a couple of years, what are the downsides of the flat free version?

I would say the bearings are the pitfall to these. Since then I have upgraded to tweels. Aside from cost I don’t see a downside to tweels.

I noticed you had the same minor anomaly as me, that being the wheel is slightly off center on the axel. That's because the hub width is wider than the original wheel. Not a big deal in my opinion.

It’s close enough. I will say the tweels on my mower are very similar to pneumatic tires. Regardless flat free is the way to go!

Harbor Freight is cheapest place to get a whole new tire. Home Depot and Lowes is double or triple the cost.

Looking to fix mine. I had replaced the wheel like this cat did 2 years ago. My bearing fell out. I'd hired a dude and he used the wheelbarrow. When I went to use it, the tire was wobbly and he didn't tell me.

Personally I would not recommend a pneumatic tire for a wheel barrel. You cannot install flat free tires without also installing a new wheel because they are a unit. I’m sure you can find another videos showing hot to replace an innertube tire. It’s the same as a bike tire. But in my experience your tube always gets pinched or punctured and it goes flat.

Flat free tires suck! They can’t hold heavy weight and they sink when you’re rolling them.

Yes, they are not as good as a properly inflated pneumatic tire. But they are WAY better than a low pressure one and definitely better than a flat one! I'll take the tire with zero maintenance that's 80% as good as a properly inflated air filled tire. The real question is when will they come out with tweels for wheel barrows!?! That would be the best of both worlds!
