Vaultdweller 127 apart from the starters being available in the wild, NPCs actually give you all of the 3 starters with near perfect IVs before you even reach the 3rd gym

I already expected Eevee to win, especially since it has a more versatility. It can also set up Reflect and Light Screen with Baddy Bad(I would have preferred it to be called "Nighty Night") and Glitzy Glow. Also, why didn't you include Zippy Zap in Pikachu's moveset? It always results in a critical hit (Which means that if the opponent has a defense boost, it'll be ignored) and is a +2 priority attack. Plus Iron Tail can miss.

I prefer Eevee but you guys aren't being fair here. You let Eevee switch out moves all the time but dont alternate dig on pikachu for coverage. Why would you use Iron tail over dig? Dig would allow it to handle team rocket and Kogas poison typing, while also allowing it to deal with other electric types like Traces Jolteon. Iron tail is only really useful against a few pokemon in the whole game, and since most ice types are also water, thunderbolt wins anyways.

DanielLynne the bias is strong with this one. The only advantage Eevee has is the larger move pool. Pikachu is faster, more offensively built, offers near perfect coverage for the region AND BRICK BREAK BEATS IRON TAIL HANDS DOWN FFS

I think that they just don't like dig because it's 2 turns and also leaves Pikachu open to opponents with Earthquake. But I agree, they could've changed it out a bit more

I still think Eevee's better just cause Pikachu's a dead mouse if it ever doesn't OHKO the opponent, and the variety of options is just super fun. Like seriously, a 90 base power leach seed, so great and stupid lol. The iron tail might have also been for fairy coverage since clefable, wigglytuff and chansey are all fairy now, but I'm not too sure why they went with that myself and didn't change it out where a different move would be more useful

@@Chronoflation In actual online play earthquake for days, but during the game i only saw it used a handful of times, and never by someone who I would actually use dig on haha Chansey is just normal, its just the jig, clef and mr mime lines as far as i remember that are fairy, and you would have an easier time using a poison move on another pokemon for that. Pikachu lost this by 3 points or so by their tally. The handicapping of pikachu by NOT using dig which is better for coverage means they purposely lower pikachus point total. Iron tail is 20 base power higher sure, but its 25 lower accuracy. So its a less likely to hit move that doesn't really cover anything, especially the pokemons own weaknesses.

What’s makes Eevee a powerful starter is not just because of the friendship moves it learns for each of it’s evolutions, the fact of the matter is that base on its type and stats... Eevee has no real weaknesses but fighting type and with all the friendship power ups it gets ultimately makes what would normally (no pun intended) be a jack of all stats into nearly a Master of all

I'm playing LGP for my first playthrough. The Partner Pika definitely fights like a glass cannon. If she doesn't OHKO sweep the opposing team, there's a high risk of fainting especially getting hit with type disadvantage moves.

I mean to be fair they're both pretty OP, pretty sure you could probably go the entire game using just Pikachu or Eevee. I know on my currently playthrough with Pikachu he can handle almost everyone by himself, they only time I tend to switch him out is with Venesaur to deal with rock types and that's only because I don't swap out his moveset as compared to the other types rock don't really show up often enough to justify it. Same with Eevee, you might have to swap out a power every now and then but overall Eevee can pretty much solo the game by itself too.

Let's not forget the 100% status conditions of buzzy buzz and Slizzy Slide for Eevee and the screens put up by glitzy glow and baddy bad. Eevee just has insane staying power with that, and can combine a sort of status with healing with the leach seed effect on the grass attack. Whenever Eevee is stuck in a tank neutral battle, burn and leach seed at the same time are insanely useful, if you choose that moveset, plus the burn lowering the opponent's attack helps eevee stay even better. Add in baddy bad and glitzy glow and eevee is basically guaranteed to outlast the competition, if it can survive long enough to set all that up

Haven't watched the whole video yet, but for Eeevee (at least mine), I'd reccomend keeping Sizzly Slide instead of Buzzy Buzz because its a physical Attack move, and [at least my] Eevee's Attack is higher then its Special Attack, so it damages more then Buzzy Buzz.

One thing you forgot to mention was the attacks effects like bouncy bubble healing . When use on a Pokemon like Rhydon use.could heal a lot of damage. I also believe most of eevee's effect strumps any of pikachu's.

Had a question for let's go eevee players.. are the special moves relearnable from the guy? Say I want to get rid of sizzle slide for whatever reason...can I go back to the move tutor later on and teach it sizzly slide again if I Decide that move is better or do I have to use a heart scale?

This video is heavily misleading. The way this video was made was assuming that this would be a solo run with only using your starter. Obviously Eevee would have the advantage with all it's coverage moves. But this game would be played with a team of six where instead of non-STAB coverage moves on one Pokemon you have 5 other Pokemon with STAB on those moves. Also Pikachu's base speed is much higher as well as it's attacks. Pikachu in a team of six is much better than Eevee.

It almost feels like they made Let's Go Eevee the super easy mode as it not only gets crazy coverage moves but the moves themselves are just ridiculous with insane secondary abilities coupled with their high base attacking power. When I first saw it in my friend's game I was seriously like "WTF! Why didn't my Pikachu get any crazy stuff like this?" Pikachu didn't need a bunch of crazy coverage moves but a few more would've been nice, especially if they had cool effects like what Eevee got. Hell, each move that Eevee gets is better than ANY move of that type that it's evolutions learn. If they gave made those moves the signature moves of each of Eevee's evolutions then perhaps they would be more used Pokemon because they'd certainly be more special.

Pikachu can learn more TMs than Eevee, although most don't help with type coverage. I also found out that of the two, only Pikachu can learn Brick Break and only Eevee can learn Shadow Ball. Shadow Ball is almost completely unnecessary on Eevee(thanks to Baddy Bad, with the exception of Mr. Mime), but Pikachu can get a little use out of Brick Break(at least against Normal and Steel types, Rock and Ground can be dealt with via Splishy Splash).

You forgot zippy zap. It’s a 117.5 base power with the critical and stab. Defense raising moves won’t matter to it.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't mention it's lack of staying power very much. Yeah, it has less moves, but, more importantly, if it doesn't take an opponent down in 1 hit, it's probably gonna get KOed. Meanwhile eevee has 90 base power moves that include: water type mega drain, 2 reflector setup moves, 100% paralysis and burn moves, leach seed and the ability remove his and his allies status conditions. Eevee has all the classic tanking setups with offensive moves. That's pretty insane. The Pikachu is awesome, but it really feels unfair to Pikachu when Eevee has all this going for it

@@omegalilbchass8270 Yeah, Pikachu can be a killing machine, but even buffed up, can still barely take attacks from non-evolved pokemon, so it's in a rough spot by end game. I also do like how Eevee can provide buffs for your whole party, like with light screens and leech seeds, things that pass on to help anyone you switch into, and the always paralysis and burn. Pikachu is a great glass canon, but staying power can go a lot farther in Pokemon games, I feel like (and I say this as someone who generally relies on glass canons like my Beedril in this game, Absol, Infernape, etc. But I can still acknowledge that the lack of good defense and support abilities can be a problem). Maybe if Pikachu's attacks had more guaranteed secondary effects, like one always paralyzing and other support stuff like that, I'd be more inclined to put them on par with each other, but it's hard for me to say that when Eevee is just that versatile and tanky enough to last at least a few hits against even the toughest opponents

Hahaha you forgot to even talk about zippy zap. You know, the best move pikachu has access to? You talk about aerodactyl and its speed but zippy zap handles that. It's a +2 priority move and nothing that has access to extreme speed has the same base speed or higher than pikachu. This means pikachu will go first. Zippy zap has a base damage of 50, but with stab that's 75. BUT it also ALWAYS CRITS which means double that damage. We are talking a +2 priority move at a whopping 150. Unless the opponent resists it, its gonna hurt. Usually resulting in a OHKO. Pikachus defenses suck yes, but its speed and attack stats make up for it. It out speeds all but like 6 pokemon. Those being mewtwo, alakazam, aerodactyl, electrode, jolteon, and dugtrio(not including megas). But with zippy zap, it out speeds EVERYTHING. It hits hard, and it hits fast. Eevee has a mediocre speed stat and while it has good defenses compared to pika, its distribution of stats is overall pretty lackluster. I'm sorry but pikachu is overall better. Even without the extra coverage.

Uh, what do I say... Crits aren't guaranteed to OHKO even with STAB and Super-Effective bonus. Plus, this doesn't answer the Pokemon that take normal, let alone resisted, damage from a Zippy Zap. Crits also only deal 1.5x as much damage - as introduced in GenVI. So with the calculations before, Zippy Zap would do 50 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 112.5 damage, whereas a Thunderbolt would do 90 x 1.5 = 135. This damage difference means that Pikachu is better off with Thunderbolt. Sure, Zippy Zap outspeeds Thunderbolt, but with Pikachu's already high Speed stat it probably would be better off in most cases to just hit harder, not faster. You could have both, but that removes one option for coverage in your moveset. Even so, Pikachu will perform extremely well in Let's Go, with or without Zippy Zap.

I absolutely agree. Being "more versatile" and being the best cleric in the game by virtue of having no competition is not better than having the best priority move in the game and moves that cover the grass and ground types that resist the priority move.

I took out Dragonite only using Pikachu. I shouldn't have, but Pikachu avoided 2 attacks because of my command and toughed out at 1% so I wouldn't feel bad

I didn’t use the training moves you get from those teacher. I used the moves you get through leveling up and one of the TM’s, and my Eevee is overpowered. Which says a lot about how good Eevee is. I knew from the get go Eevee was going to be the best starter, hands down.

Kutery F The difference between them is negligible and the game is insanely easy, without using tutor moves, Pikachu would be stronger in most cases. But you shouldn’t pick your partner based on who you think is stronger, you should do it based on which you like more. Sincerely, A diehard Eevee fan.
