My personal advice: I’ve been using Colgate my entire life and I’ve never had a cavity. I brush twice a day mostly depending on how dirty my teeth feel. Instead of focusing on the polishing of the front and back of my tooth I tend to mainly focus on the gunk in between my teeth and brushing my tongue which holds most bacteria in your mouth. Another tip is gargling around baking soda and tonic water once a month to keep your teeth white without bleach!!

My poor fiancé has such bad teeth and he took good care of them too. Him having braces as a child like ate away at his enamel or something. He's had all four front top teeth removed and was lucky enough to have money to buy a partial so he didn't feel so poorly about himself. My one goal in life is to one day be able to afford to fix his entire mouth. He has his wisdom teeth that need removed but we don't have the money to do so rn. So I thank you and yousef for making this channel so we can continue to save the teeth he does have left at 24 years old with the knowledge your provide us with!

Hey doctor Erakat! I was just wondering does teeth whitening or teeth bleaching damage or harm the teeth?
@---pd3dg7 жыл бұрын
Yup.. it makes ur teeth sensitive by time to any cold/hot water or food ..they get stained easily by coffee/tea or any coloring food u eat ..and if u don't brush constantly after eating or drinking those coloring food or whatever ur teeth will get yellowish or more stained than before ..this is what I know by far (I study dentistry that's why I replied to u although I didn't get to this part in my studying but it's just general knowledge I got to know)
@Hibarellax37 жыл бұрын
Marwa B would it be ok if you do it just once?
@---pd3dg7 жыл бұрын
Hibarellax3 it's ok if u bleach ur teeth if u want to ..(many people are doing it) the main concept is to try to maintain/keep them white by brushing and not neglecting them ..altho the sensitivity and discomfort are temporary (as I know) ..thus the effect of whitening last up to 3 years, however this will vary from person to person regarding of (smoking, drinking tea, coffee and stained food) ..but in term of whitening with baking soda may erode the enamel of the tooth and cause teeth sensitivity ..i don't think that bleaching with laser does that..that's all ✌🏼
@Hibarellax37 жыл бұрын
Marwa B yes!! I meant whitening at the dentist with laser or however they do it :P. My dentist was telling me that he doesn't recommend it just because sometimes people may not be happy with the results in terms of how white their teeth is ... he advised to use crest white strips instead. Are those any good?
@---pd3dg7 жыл бұрын
Hibarellax3 they get ur teeth white but not as white that u'll expect them to be ..that's what I heard from people have used stripes ..try them out yourself I think their safe as well..as the results may differ from one person to another ✌🏼

It's a sweetener not sugar ..so it doesn't cause tooth decay ..chewing gum can protect the teeth when it may not be possible to brush in between meals throughout the day as chewing gum produces saliva (the mouths natural defense against acid) ..

Thank you for being open enough to do this channel. I'll be honest I am very bad at taking care of my teeth. I haven't been to the dentist in years, last time was just to get a tooth pulled. I was traumatized growing up, getting about 9 baby teeth pulled out when I was around 12. So I'm not a big fan. Even now I have two teeth that are broken that I know I should take care of. And even though I have some kind of insurance I just don't trust to go get it taken care of and I know there's going to be out of pocket costs that I can't afford. The sad thing is I've seen some videos of new ways of fixing and filling teeth that I saw, that if I could afford, I'd be willing to try. God willing one day it can happen. Thanks again for sharing much love.

Wow you weren't kidding when you said you explain things in a good way... amazing! I wish my dentist taught me like this when I was a kid

Dentists aren't expensive. Neglecting your teeth is expensive. Trust me what's worse? $100 for a check up or cavity filling or $1000+ for a crown or root canal. Take care of your teeth, brush twice a day and use an electric brush like oral b or Philips sonicare TRUST ME!

Dr, your explanations are AMAZING!! I've been to a few dentists in my life time and yet to get explanations from them without them using medical terms! But this video has been great! Keep it up Dr!

Dr. Erakat, I have a question that I'd like to hear your thoughts on. I am a smokeless tobacco (dipping tobacco) user who has been using for about the last 8-9 years and I have suffered several cavities because of this even though I brush my teeth regularly. I do know that it can cause oral cancer, severe gum disease, and affect your overall health but I would really appreciate hearing from you what you have to say about using these products. I've attempted several methods of stopping this habit (and have successfully done so for over a year) but started back during a stressful time in my life and have not discontinued my habit since then. I feel that if someone were to sit me down and say "this is what's going to happen if you do not quit" and present images or stories that you've encountered over the years that it would present me with a huge wake-up call and help me on the journey to stop using dipping tobacco. I'm in the process of trying Chantix, I have tried Wellbutrin/Zyban in the past with no luck, and I feel that this subject could help many of your viewers start their journey to put down the nicotine once and for all. I would also be interested in your opinions of the new e-cigarette craze that people have jumped on and if it would be a healthier option for me or if I should just avoid it at all costs and cease all usage. I love your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put into making them and just you as a doctor as well. Thank you.

GREAT video. What a great way to get the word out. It was a bit strange hearing how you phrased the bacteria go to the bathroom on teeth, but very graphic. Mission accomplished!!
