True fundamentalism can occur when one is born again, but it is not a necessity of salvation. When people force their desire to serve God on others it can push them away. I think “come as you are” works best. If a person is born again they will seek a higher form of piety as the spirit grows.

That was a really great synopsis! I think though, that yes you pointed out 5 bullet points of the fundamentalist movement, but primarily the fundamentalists get their points from the Bible as their fundamental source of truth. The debate about truth is really where we are today as humanism has crept into the pulpit to the point where no one is sure if the bible as it is can be fully trusted or if it was just words by men. Please keep posting these kind of videos as well as your Bible reviews because the people need to know the truth can be found in the Bible. God bless you Pastor Steve!

Francis Schaeffer has spoke much on these issues, ex. The watershed of the evangelical world. Evangelical vs liberal evangelical, even though he was an evangelical theologian and fundamentalist himself, he spoke well on the issues. He warned we would face these issues even today.

This video gives a helpful framework. Thanks! I think you might benefit from exploring the conservative calvinists like Warfield, Machen, and the Westminster Seminary thread of development. It seems like there's a sort of third mode of development in Christian conservatism that the Old Princeton and Westminster theologians carved out for conservative Reformed Christianity that doesn't really fit into the mold of fundamentalism or evangelicalism (as you've defined evangelicalism). Also, I think it should be pointed out that evangelicalism is actually quite hard to define. cultural Evangelicalism is different than theological Evangelicalism. But thanks for the video!

If you are fundamentalist you will believe that God does not lie: Psalm 33:4 - The word of the LORD is right and all his works are done in truth. - This means that God's works do not lie, and so if the Earth looks like it is 4.5 billion years old, then it is.

(Full disclosure - commented the same elsewhere) Fair enough. An Evangelical holds the Bible in highest regard, i.e., it is 'inerrant', but the way it is interpreted marks the difference between an Evangelical and a Fundamentalist. An Evangelical will believe in the Bible, but interpret it, perhaps, more liberally as narrative, or myth, or philosophy (at least in some areas). A Fundamentalist will interpret it LITERALLY and STRICTLY. That's the fundamental (no pun intended) difference between these two schools of thought. Curiously and commonly, Fundamentalists often hide under the guise of Evangelicals, without even realising they are the former.

I'm not quite sure if I agree with the dichotomy of Fundamentalists being biblical and evangelicals being flexible on the Bible. What seems to be the difference is clothing standards (no evangelicals allow fishnets and thongs, no cross dressing etc.), It was just an understanding that beards and long hair on men(considering that beards are no longer considered leftists and most long haired men don't look feminine). The point of difference that I see is that Fundamentalists seem to value traditions made in the 1860s-1940s, and evangelicals are kind-of agnostic on anachronism, considering Jesus was around 2000 years ago, and not in the 50s. Evangelicals still believe in church modesty, still hold the Bible as inerrant, but don't fight on non-essentials(Just as Paul says when He rips the early church a new one for their sectarianism). So how does this look in real life? Fundamentalist churches have everyone dressed in their nicest suits every week, but have no children in their nurseries, and Evangelicals have some minor disagreements about how many angels can dance on the pin of a needle, but they wear jeans and have kids, while also preaching against the sin of the modern day (lgbtabortion etc.) Basically, at best you can call evangelicals more often libertarian, but never liberal.

A good history lesson, but I listened 12 minutes just to hear our pastor conclude “a fundamentalist is someone who believes in the Bible” I can’t help but notice that this kind of explanation would only make sense to someone who already shares your priors about what is meant by “believe (in)” and [in italics] “the” Bible; i.e., to the choir I feel there was perhaps a missed opportunity here to present, for instance, some of the specific reasonings that mainline, pre-fundamentalist theological traditions drew from higher (and lower) literary criticism, and why. That would have been more illuminating for those looking to learn more about these differences than, say, “(so-and-so) had become liberal” or “fundamentalists believe in the Bible.” These kinds of descriptions really only make sense as meaningful differentiations if we anchor them to something external to our in-group priors. For instance, I don’t believe many practicing their faith outside of fundamentalism would accept your differentiation on the grounds that they (presumedly) reject the Bible. I imagine that most would present what they felt were meaningful points of difference- That’s what I feel was missed here. The pastor actually does mention some of these firm points of theological departure in passing here (textual criticism, documentary hypothesis, increasing influence of biblical scholarship)- but then just hand-waves all of that away to instead deliver a predominantly socio-cultural explanation of the differences between the fundamentalists and others. That frame of emphasis is in itself interesting, and perhaps speaks to how fundamentalists themselves may actually perceive these nominally-religious words to code in-service to a secondary, largely socio-political understanding of things. Not to minimize the pastor’s emphasis- culture, society, and politics are very important and interesting, but for a video like this-I think be instructive to hear about those bedrock theological disagreements that you mentioned in passing in addition to the political labeling and norms around physical aesthetics. Food for thought

@@NewLifeOfAlbanyGa No problem- Could you perhaps point us towards some of your videos which discuss these theological differences, and how the mainliners understand their implications- as opposed to how fundamentalists understand those points of contention? I’m sorry about the journalists. And two stars is fine- I’m not a professional reviewer by practice, so I don’t expect to be up to the standards of vocation- how you respond to such feedback is up to you. But it might be a missed opportunity to fill-in some blanks that folks who found this particular video might appreciate. Best of luck in your endeavors

Is there a teaching in the New Testament that truly echoes the sentiments of the following Bible verses below? Ezekiel 18:20-22 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. 21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Psalm 49:7 7 No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them. Deuteronomy 24:16 16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20 20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Ezekiel 14:12-28 12 The word of the Lord came again to me, saying, 13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: 14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God. 15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: 16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. 17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: 18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. ----------------------------------------------------- Final Conclusion: Isaiah 8:20 20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Proverbs 30:6 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

1/21/10 From The Lord, Our God and Savior The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy For Timothy, and For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear ... I AM COME![1] THE TIME IS HERE! And behold I, The Lord your God, will do nothing until I have revealed My plans to My servants, the prophets.[2] And this I have done. Give Me glory! Kiss The Son! For darkness is overhead and great turmoil has come upon this generation, the likes of which no generation before has ever seen, the Great and Terrible Day of The Lord! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! For The Lord your God is coming down to you in judgment and for great ruin, FOR CALAMITY! Behold, I am coming out of My sanctuary to destroy, until there is no sin left upon the earth, until all things have bowed down before Me, to give Me glory! And to those who kiss The Son, to them I shall be God, very close at hand; even they shall rest upon My bosom. Yet to those who forsake Me, who do always rebel against Me and curse My name and The Messiah, to them also shall I be God, very close at hand - The God of vengeance and recompense! The God of judgment and justice! Behold, I shall be The God of horror and dreadful signs to them and their idols, the destroyer of all their temples, The One who reigns in Israel who breaks apart all their false foundations, The King, The Mighty and Strong One who smashes in pieces and wipes away even all they hold sacred! IT SHALL BE BROKEN IN PIECES! Behold I, even I, shall murder every god of the pagans and of the Gentiles, for they are no gods! Even the god of the sons of Ishmael shall die in that day, for he is no god! HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE ME! Then they will know, I AM THE LORD, For there is no other and none like Me... The One True God, THE ONLY GOD, Whose fury has come in His burning jealousy; Elohim, YAHUWAH, also being your only Salvation and escape; behold, all shall know Me and see My face, YAHUSHUA... Bow therefore, and give glory to My name! For it is time! Return to Me! Source: trumpetcallofgodonline.com/index.php5?title=The_Voice_of_The_Almighty_God

[12] It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? [13] Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? [14] But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. Deuteronomy 6:4,18,25 ASV Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah: [18] And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of Jehovah; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, [25] And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us. Deuteronomy 4:2 ASV Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 12:32 ASV What thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Deuteronomy 5:32 ASV Ye shall observe to do therefore as Jehovah your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. Deuteronomy 13:4 ASV Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
