As always appreciate the videos especially this one, got a lot of non union residential building experience but like you said it's a whole new world from what you can do non union and what's expected on these big commercial union jobs, exactly why I'm willing to start at the bottom and work my way up, I got experience doing the work but the safety aspects are totally different

Well said! Plus why bite off more then you can chew. The apprenticeship will be over before you know it. Plus you mostly will be making more money just starting out.

@@unscriptedwithantonio exactly why jump into deeper water than I can swim in and from what I've heard and understand starting pay for an apprentice just starting out that knows nothing is around 30 and with experience I'll be starting out higher depending what I test at so no matter what I'm looking at 15-20 dollar an hour raise

Good video. Thanks for the content. I’m two months into my first Union job. Started as a carpenters helper. Trying to get an apprenticeship and I have been soaking up all the content you post.

Great video bro. I’ve been learning a lot from these videos. I’m a first period apprentice here in the bay area and I’ve completed my first 2 classes. Now I just need my hours.

My advice bro. Take it easy don't rush. You will be a journeyman before you know it. Just ask as many questions as you can. Buy as many tools as you can afford. I spent about $200 a month to start out. And before you know it. You will have a huge stockpile of nice tools.

dope vid..lotta good info…i have a choice between Exterior Interior Systems or general carpentry…im not sure because i’m not too sure on what to expect…from my understanding it’s rough carpentry or finish carpentry …which one is more desirable position?
@unscriptedwithantonio2 жыл бұрын
@@zepeda2323 it's depends on what you want to do. Esi is usually inside mostly drywall. Its usually hot. I'm a general carpenter. We do everything. Demo, framing, concrete, siding, doors and hardware. You learn a lot of different skills. Also we do finish carpenter also. But it's usually the more seasoned guys

I top out as a journeyman next month… are contractors easy on a first year journeyman or should I be expected to know everything?
@unscriptedwithantonio2 жыл бұрын
Just be honest and bust your ass. You should be fine. You can't know everything. Ask questions and give your best effort. Don't pretend you know something you don't. And don't leave a conversation without being completely lined out.

In a union you have local dues. It's about $30 a month. In Oregon you can pay 3 months and you will be fine. If your short on cash. Let them you will pay them once you get your first check. But I'm not sure about your state.
