I used to be one of those people that thought blogging was dead until I realized all of the content I use to make social media posts came from reading blogs. So, yeah blogging isn't dead, lol.

This was such a great video! It really spoke to me in this moment. I’ve been working hard on a blog for a few months and got pretty down when I started school again this semester and lost the time / motivation for the blog. I thought to myself: I don’t want to be known as a blogger, I don’t want to be a writer for my whole life. But then I thought of you, and how you want to be an interior designer and use the platform you’ve created to expand your business. Now, today, watching this video, I really see the impact of having a blog and working hard on it till it’s successful at bringing in views. I want to be a wine + wellness expert, maybe start a vineyard / winery retreat one day, sell my own sustainably-made wine….and I wondered how blogging could help this. Now I see. It would bring in exposure to my business and help me grow in the future. Sorry, total rant! But thanks. Hopefully this helped someone else like it did for me.

Yesss! Loved the “portfolio of businesses” comment. That’s what I’m doing. Also - When people start a business (like a dog food business, lol), without an audience - it is SO MUCH HARDER. I’ve worked for a number of startups, and it GNARLY to get new customers - or heck, even get people to pay attention. Blogging makes sense. The startup costs for a new business are wayyyy lower IME as a business coach and entrepreneur, if people KNOW YOU. You don’t have to spend money on ads, it’s easier to get PR, you don’t spend a lot of time trying to get influencers to talk about you, etc.

Sophia the way you explained that your blog is just a catalyst or support for your business just blew my mind! I never really thought about it that way before. I have been really struggling the past few months after trying to start a blog (and posting, and social media and learning SEO and all the things). I really love the way you teach and explain things. I am going to look into getting your courses. I appreciate you reminding me in this video that starting a blog is a lot of work and takes a lot of time. It helped me relax and realized I'm still having forward progress even if it seems small. I was really interested in thinking about my blog a different way. I think that's partly why I've been so confused is because I thought I just wanted to be a blogger. But I think your way of thinking makes more sense to me. That blogging is a step in your business rather than your business. I think that will help me better niche down and feel more focused. I am loving your blogging videos. Thank you so much!!

I love your thoughts on using the blog to market other businesses! & Its crazy how many people don't realize, whenever they're searching on google and going to a website that they contribute to SEO and most of these pages they're on ARE blog posts. Even a Buzzfeed post lol I think its okay if people don't understand blogging. Its a lot like teaching and that's not for everyone, but for those willing to put in the work, you get to fill out your own little corner of the internet with the things you love most! I think anyone COULD blog but not everyone wants to ya know, as with most occupations or hobbies

I loved your analogy of comparing blogging to newspapers/magazines and your perspective of timing it. We are on the forefront of writing internet content which should be expected to evolve to people’s needs. That just changed my whole perspective on how I view blogs. Its not just for younger generations. Boomers and Gen Xers also turn to the internet for much of their information. This video is worth viewing if you’re feeling discouraged with blogging which I was. I feel inspired again. Thank you for putting it out there.

I just finished reading a blog post by writer Jeff Goins, a bestselling author who claims that no one blogs like they used to and that he's decided to switch to a platform called Substack. What are your thoughts on this platform and if it would be a viable substitution-or addition-to writing blog posts? Personally, I'm wondering if I could use it for my fiction stories, similar to the Wattpad platform, and keep my blog content on my actual blog. I'm rebooting my blog this year and was wondering if Substack would be a vialble option to get a better reader base. Thanks for your input. Just finished binge-watching about 10-15 of your vids. Great content; will definitely look out for more of your vids.

I love your videos, but there is a noise in the background that is super distracting! It might be the autofocus on the camera; it sounds like a little rolling thing, idk. It would be awesome if you guys could fix that for future videos :)

Hi Sophia! I have seen a few of your videos and just subbed. It is so funny this topic came up again because my hubby (who is in IT and has been around since the net started) says that people do not type in URLs anymore and that blogging is NOT the way to go. He has some great success with his own media properties and stuff so I get it, but we def disagree. The issue is that I had one blog fail, for many reasons, and I think he sees how much things have changed with Social Media, etc and he figures get people to follow you on those first, before creating the blog. Basically, he is like blogging isn't worth it and if people don't already know you, they won't look for you. He was like if you don't have people asking for the info you are sharing already, it's gonna fail. I don't agree but hey, what do I know? lol
@jennevieve_2 жыл бұрын
"if you don't have people asking for the info you are already sharing" - but that's exactly why blogging works! Lol. SEO is an *inbound* marketing strategy - the whole point is to position your blog post so that people who are actively looking for that content will find it. It's all about the strategy. :)

I totally get this as google is King and SEO is probably the most important factor in driving traffic. HOWEVER, I do feel like most written blogs are dying and it’s difficult to stand out. I feel now more than ever, companies, consumers and people are preferring video content such as KZbin which is owned by google and also SEO driven. So I feel written blogs had been replaced by video content. I have my own website and though I feel it would be great to create blogs I just don’t think it will be worthwhile. However, it may increase the SEO of my website so I may do so but embed videos from KZbin in my blogs. Even myself (being 25) and I know a lot of the young generation, prefer to get our information from videos, people don’t really read blogs as much (despite me loving to read).
@jennevieve_2 жыл бұрын
If this were really the case then blogs across the board would be seeing a steady decrease in traffic year-over-year, but in reality it's the opposite - blogs like Sophia's grow bigger and see more traffic every month. Sounds to me like you're just making excuses. :)
@Hamyhamster242 жыл бұрын
You have to remember not everyone are visual learners and there are still a lot of people who prefers reading as opposed to watching. It’s a different style of obtaining and retaining information. So blogging isn’t going away anytime soon
@PersonalFinanceWithAshtyn3 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that blogging is not ever going to die. A New Year’s resolution that I had for 2022 has to be more consistent on my blogging platform so that I can actually grow an audience that truly cares about what I have to say and hopefully somewhere down the line to make some extra income. I currently write about mental health struggles and college experiences but now that I have graduated I am afraid that my college niche will not stick and I don’t want to lose audiences from not sticking to a specific niche. Do you think that is important or do you think writing about what I want to write regardless of category will retain my audiences/following? I would love to hear your thoughts! Or anyone’s thoughts on that!! Thank you 🤗🥰
@antidelusionalpeeps3 жыл бұрын
Do you write about your college experience or college life in general to maybe "guide" (future) students? If it's the latter I see no reason why students would stop following you if your blog is useful to them, but if you write about your personal college experiences I think you should ask yourself if you'll start running out of things to write at some point.
