Loved this video! I love TLD and i find this is a really nice overview of it. Comment on the intestinal parasites: actually getting intestinal parasites is not as simple as just eating wolf meat. If you eat one piece of wolf or bear meat, you gain a 1% risk of intestinal parasites. The risk increases the more pieces you eat in a 24 hour period-when those 24 hours are up, the game runs RNG, and determines whether or not you get the parasites. This means that the best way to eat wolf or bear meat is 1 piece, containing many calories, every 24 hours, as your risk will be at 1% and then reset when the 24 hour period is up :)

When the storm ended I realised I was on the other side of the map, not only that but I was also meters away from the cabin that would've saved most of my resources and condition. 10/10 game, died to a wolf not long after due to low condition.

If you ever get the privilege to visits the tombstones national park it’s hard to argue that it’s not the most beautiful mountain range in the world. I always start on Timberwolf Mountain. If you know which way to go, you can easily climb to the summit where there's a treasure trove of high-level items, and you're basically set for the game from there. There's also another area, Ash Canyon, next to it, which you can also speed-run if you know the route, and get the backpack for a permanent +5kg (11lbs) carrying capacity bonus (which is a must have, if you're going to travel around), and possibly run into a moose and make a satchel out of its hide, for another +5kg bonus.

fires will keep away animals, at the farmhouse you could have built a fire (in the fire barrel) next to the workbench to, give you warmth, light, and ward off predators
@TocsTheWanderer9 ай бұрын
Yep, and if you drop the flare between you and the wolf, and then aim your weapon at it, it'll charge up to a certain distance and then run away scared. You don't need to shoot them or even have ammo in your weapon. The only times this doesn't work is if there's an aurora, even timberwolves will temporarily run away if you do this, though I don't think they lose morale, or if they do it's a negligible amount. During an aurora, almost nothing will scare away wolves or timberwolves, the only thing that works reliably is a flashlight using the high-beam setting.

17:59 Both the hatchet and the hammer are actually more effective than the knife during a wolf struggle. The hatchet just outright does ~33% more damage, and just like the knife has a chance to cause a wound so that the wolf will bleed out. The hammer, while not doing as much damage outright and not being able to make them bleed out, has a significantly higher critical hit chance, able to cause them to flee, or even kill them with just the first hit. Also, at 22:33, you actually were going west. The in-game Mystery Lake map is rotated 90° for some reason.

As for 'tips' from a longtime player of the game, Whoslistening there made a good point about the intestinal parasites affliction (though funnily enough on Voyageur that affliction doesn't even happen lol). Aside from that, a good tool to keep in mind is a snow shelter (15 sticks, 5 cloth, make shelter just about anywhere that's windproof and decent insulation). Lastly, I disagree with your weight-limit priorities. 1 bottle of Antiseptic weighs 7 times that of ketchup chips, lol. (plus Old Man's Beard lichen is just better than antiseptic)
