The Greek word "number" in that passage in Rev means "multitude" and in the NT it's mostly used for a multitude of people. The number 666 is a symbolic representation of all those who receive the mark, just as the 144 000 who are sealed, is a symbolic number. In the ancient Greek there's a 3rd form of numbers, where beside ordinal and cardinal numbers, you have another that's used for these kind of things. It was also used for military terms, like we have today as wel; for example an "army" or "battalion", in where the amount is indicated but never truly specific. Hooe this makes sense. Wrong! Revelation was written before Jerusalem fell, Kenneth Gentry has proven this conclusively in his book “Before Jerusalem Fell”. The debate is settled. Otherwise, good conversation

Revelation was written in 95 ad .Antichrist Beast pope of Rome fulfilled prophecy in Revelation.

But what about a literal mark? Since you cannot buy or sell without it?

Do you think buying in Rev 3:18 is litetal? If not, why do you think buying and selling must be literal in this verse?

Proverbs 23;23 KJV "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding." Acts 8;20 KJV "But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money." Revelation 3;18 KJV "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see."
