It is true what John Piper said : People were burned alive for reading the Bible. The teacher at my Catholic school told me Thomas More watched as the Protestants were burned, and said their souls would go to hell. Yet my teacher, who must have been sixty, remained a devout Catholic. One of the puzzles I reflect upon.

The catholic church teaches a highly defensive doctrine. So many people grow with that, and simply cant let go their tradition deeply rooted in their minds.

‘An 80 year old Nun who just converted never laid eyes on the Gospel of John’ What an outrageous LIE! So in her entire life, most of that spent as a nun, she never went to mass? If she had she would have heard the gospel of John many times over. Nuns practice lectio divina, which is prayerful reading and meditation in scripture for hours each week. She would have had access to the gospel of John at any time of the day in her monastery. Happy to be shown otherwise with evidence. But that sounds like an outright lie to me.

I don't agree with calvinism either... Anyway i must admit calvinist churches are quite orthodox when it comes to moral bible principles. So it has its pros and its cons...

@@valdotc8559 Most Calvinites have no problem smoking stogies and drinking high priced IPA’s at their Calvinite exclusive club house. Modern day Nicolaitans!

@@johndisalvo6283 - So you're equating the work of John Calvin as being in step with the Gnostic heresy of the Nicolaitians? And whatever does the above activities have to do with anything? Are you trying to contend that those are in any way an "eating" of things offered to idols and the encouragement of idolatrous worship? Your understanding of such things leaves a lot to be desired and displays a woeful lack of biblical discernment!

@@SAOProductions1955. If you’re “elect” why worry about sin, holiness and sanctification? Won,t change anything will it? Your satanic TULIP doctrine is going to be judged very shortly! You have ZERO discernment.
