I'm guessing no. In multiplayer when a player touches a player that already had the star effect in that level it will not give them invincibility again.

If I'm not mistaken, the level actually DOES have more than 4 double cherries, I think it has 6, but they wont spawn if you already have 4 clones. It seems like the number of clones was very deliberately limited this way. It's not that the game "cant handle" more than 4 clones, it's simply hardcoded to not allow it.

I assume that your character always becomes slightly bigger, whether or not you collected the double cherry first. The reason for this is I assume that when the timer ends it's supposed to shrink you down to a certain size but they mistyped the number for what size you should be, so you're slightly bigger. That or for some reason the animation for shrinking ends one frame earlier than it's supposed to, so the shrinking ends per-maturely, making you slightly bigger.

The most interesting thing about this video for me, is that we now know that mega mushrooms permanently make mario slightly bigger after they wear off. Can you show what happens if he picks up a megamushroom, let's it wear off, picks up another mega mushroom, let's it wear off again, (etc.)? I wonder if he will just continue to grow slightly bigger every time. If so, maybe you could use repeat this process 100 times and he would be gigantic in his normal state!

Actually, cap toad should be able to use it, but ct levels have the clone max number set to 1, so picking up a double cherry in a ct level or in a level with the clone max number set to 1 crashes the game, but theoretically if you mod the game to allow more clones it should work in any level

You can also use multiplayer so that all the cherries that comes out of the Blocks (but not the natural ones) correspond with the number of players. If you have three friends who are willing to give you all their cherries, this is a good way to get a ridiculous amount of clones without hacks. (Also, I’m pretty sure if you do it this way, the game doesn’t crash because i’ve been playing with my brother on beep block skyway and have gotten six or seven peaches, which I think didn’t crash the game.)

There are actually enough Double Cherries in this course to make more than five of the same character, there are a few invisible blocks with Double Cherries inside. However, if you already have five of the same character, a coin will come out of the block instead of a Double Cherry. I once tried it when I had five Luigis and hit an invisible rectangular block in the goal area where there's usually a Double Cherry in the middle.

I once got a star and double cherry in the beep block level using Amiibo and the star powers weren’t in sync, like you said. That means it is possible to get the star and double cherry effect in the vanilla game. Maybe Nintendo overlooked it and it should be synced up in the future.

I have a little test for you, get all 4 players to get the coin counter to 0 and reach the point where you have 0 lives remaining, then have every player get a lucky bell. Get to the highest point possible and get as few points and coins as you can, then have each player collect 4 double cherries. Have all players ground pound at the same time and see how many coins and points are collected (when measuring points subtract the result by 16000 to balance the double cherries)
