If you're not a believer, you're facing the problem alone. If you're a child of God, you're facing the problems with God in your corner. I know exactly how you feel. If GOD does allow suffering, it's always for a good reason.GOD doesn't rescue right away because He isn't a get out of jail free card. I had epilepsy for years. I drank, did drugs, partied with loose women, etc, etc. God allowed suffering in my life to get my attention and to get me to clean up my act and get saved. I suffered for years. Then they stopped. I've been off my meds and seizure free for years. God is good and merciful. I cant guarantee everyone will be healed, but if HE is willing to help someone like me, why wouldn't HE help you? Never give up hope. Never lose your faith.

Yes we should be praying that all goes well as with our brothers and sisters in Christ as John said here was during this greeting to Gaius. David Platt also said that we should pray for this but this verse is not a doctrinal statement but a greeting so this is what we pray for it but God in His sovereignty knows how short or long it will be before our suffering/ trials end. Let's listen to James and count it all pure joy when we suffer trial of various kinds because the testing of our faith produces steadfastness. Let's also heed to the words of Peter and let's not be surprised when we face a fiery trial as if something strange is happening to us but let's rejoice inasmuch as we share with Christ's suffering. 1 Peter 4:1 - Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

JAMES BURSON, yes I agree. The purpose of me posting this scripture is that God does want us to be in good health. Most people believe that God is not interested in our physical health. However, that is not true God does want us to be physically healthy. This is why Christ spent the vast majority of His time healing others of physical diseases. I don’t believe that this verse or Jeremiah 29:11 means that it’s God’s will for us to be prosperous in everything. Joseph is a perfect example of this in the Bible. He had to go through suffering to save all of the known world at that time.

If I didn’t hold onto the hope that God would bring about good things in my life (bring me out of my darkness), things would have been very difficult moving forward (I would have little to no hope). I had lost my job and God used this scripture verse to breath life into me and persevere. I’m blessed with an amazing job now. Also scripture is clear God rewards those who earnestly pursue Him (Heb 11:6). So I reject this teaching that God doesn’t have good plans for us. He does! It might be different than what we envision, but they are still good. My life is a testimony of God’s goodness and grace and provision. Stay strong and trust God! He will never leave us nor forsake us! (Heb 13:5).

John Bugno God will bring you out of spiritual darkness and the consequences of rebellion and and unrepentant standing before him. But Jesus teaches us that we will suffer for the sake of the gospel, just as he did, all of his disciples were martyred. The early church expanded in the face of severe persecution.

Are there brothers and sisters around the world, suffering as the early church? Absolutely. Will we suffer for the sake of the gospel? Absolutely. But it will not look the same--at least now. Look...the average christian, in America, works a 9 to 5, goes to college, gets a degree, gets a career, starts a family. Also, the bible is clear that we dont chose where we live or what family we are born to. I'm encouraged by the sacrifice and lives of the early church and Apostles. But, my friend, I'm not going to look at blessings as something bad or evil because brothers before me didn't have them. I can't help that we live in two different context.

@@daysofold5553 nobody is saying that blessings are bad/evil or that God doesn't want to bless His people. What is being said here is that those scriptures are taken out of context to where people are expecting temporal comfort, ease, and luxury by a misinterpretation of the text. That is not what God is promising. It's not to say that God can't or won't give someone those things but when these passages are understood within this context, the person who puts their hope in this has placed their hope and expectation in a promise that God isn't necessarily making to His people and when that happens, we've misplaced our hope. And even to put our hope in a blessing that is promised, without trusting God in His infinite wisdom to do good with whatsoever is happening would be a form of idolatry. We don't put our hope in the blessing but in the one who is able to bless. When the blessing becomes our hope, it becomes our god - we've taken our eye off of Jesus as our Savior and made the blessing our savior instead.

It brings such relief when someone quotes old testament prophecy correctly. Man I love to hear this stuff cause this is how my life is most of the time. Being told I should be rich and healthy isn't my life experience most of the time. Part of that I will admit is because of chastening. I only got a 2 year degree because I chose to marry. I was celebrate 10 years and couldn't wait any longer. I'm not wealthy because I followed Christ not because of a lack of faith. Great word brother keep doing these short corrective videos. Let's repair the temple that was built by the apostles. Some of it has been destroyed by false teachers. For instance we hear if you eat right you will live longer. Jesus said you can't add one day to your life by worry. Proverbs offers some extra days but it's not by food. This is only one example of the temple in ruins.

Amen. Jeremiah 29.11 only applies for people on trials. A message of hope to those who lost loved ones, in distress, in bondage, on death bed, lost everything, struck with fatal disease, felt betrayal..etc. Yes His plans for us is to be good and not evil and its path is not easy. Going through tests and trials in life will certainly get us there .

What about the Iranian Church? They're the fastest growing church in the world and they're being persecuted for following the Lord. Healing is a promise , but suffering is obvious for Christians! I suffered for 13 years with a sickness and was under medication. I always thought God is unfair letting people live a normal life but here I am with a sickness . Then , Isaiah 53 changed my life .Jesus died on the cross for my sins and took those whips for my health . This truth set me free. I was healed and I don't have that sickness anymore and it's been six years with good health and all by the Grace of God . Healing is the will of God!

Thank you, Pastor Platt. My daughter and son-in-law live by the false interpretation of Jeremiah 29:11. They have 2 amazing children - 13 and 9. They have enrolled them in $12,000/child per year Christian schools, also preaching this. Yes, they have had 12 years of unbelievable financial comfort. And, those of us in the family who have adversely been affected by the pandemic,well we're just not praying enough and reading the Bible enough. But, after hearing you and the pastors from my church, obviously there is another reason for there prosperity. God Bless You.

It's cruel, because if someone isn't healthy, wealthy, and great, the people that believe this don't ask, "did I interpret the Scripture wrong?" No. They instead point at the person suffering and say, "you must not have enough faith, because look at you." It's downright cruel.

PROSPERITY is a BIBLE word. In the OT as well as NT. See 3 John 2. "HAPPY is the man whose sins are forgiven." Rom. 4:7. It FEELS GOOD to know my sins are forgiven. 🤣🤣🤣 In fact it FEELS WONDERFUL!!!! So what's the problem?

I agree. Everybody looks around where the scripture says even as your soul prosper's. Talkin about your growth and maturity in Christ, being transformed into the image of Christ and producing fruit walking in the spirit. God wants us in relationship to submit and to give our whole life everything to him. All we need is for the Lord to bless us and to provide what we have need of, not our wants and selfish desires.

If you want to be healed do as James the Just writes " Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. " God may heal you or not but at least you are following his word, You may die but God will raise you up if you are in Christ. Come out of the divided denominated daughters of the whore of Babylon and be free in Jesus of all the rituals, rules and greed for power, control and money. Follow Jesus not religion!

"Some preach out of rivalry, some out of good will. Either way Christ is preached" At any given time, there are new believers who are babies and require milk and soft food to grow. Some have wrecked situations as they come to Christ and need hope and encouragement. The so-called prosperity preachers, a BIG percentage of their message is full of hope. And God uses them to feed these new believers with milk and soft food of hope & encouragement. With time, God takes His people through other stages and they move away from that, and get deeper, to feeding on meat and hard stuff, and onwards to maturity. Once I fed on such at my infancy, and how grateful I was! The message no longer resonates much as I've now grown. But millions are at infancy at any time and still need that hope. While there are some who exploit the message for own gain, it is not for us, brethren, to criticize that which The Lord apportions to another for a purpose. He who started the good work in many brings it to perfection - He gives understanding with time, and His chosen feed and enjoy the meat of the word. Judge not, but love. If there be a prosperity preacher, so shall you know them by what they bear, you will know them by their fruits.

It is way better to suffer and/or be unwealthy WITH and obeying God. We have plenty of examples such as Job’s and we surely can act the same way, trusting only in the Lord and being able to declare “I know my Redeemer lives”. Some put their trust in horses and riches but we will make mention of the name of our Lord. Regardless the financial situation, lack of health, for we know and believe that our God has got plans for us. This is way better❤

Joseph was prospered for his obedience and God is not a man that he should lie. His promises are true and he faithfully keeps them no matter how long it takes to full fill. When Jesus healed people he always asked them if they believe they can be healed. Then he would say go your faith has healed you. Yes all you need is to believe that the Lord is able to give you and you definitely receive. It is his will that we are in good health and that we have enough provision every time. Sickness and poverty is from the devil. Jesus came so he could destroy the evil works of the devil. We believe him and he will continue to heal and prosper us as long as we remain rooted in him and obey him.He said ask any thing you want in my name and it will be given. He also said when you ask believe that you have already received.

You are right! God let them have what they were happy about! They wanted to suffer for God even the youths in the book of Daniel stopped at saying “ the Lord we worship is able to save us and He will save us from the burning fire and the hands of you the king” they would not have gone through the fire experience! But they led themselves to the furnace by saying “ even if He would not” and put the picture into the minds of their tormentors that if He did not , we would win! But being the good God He IS JEHOVEH / JEHOSHUAH He delivered them! But who suffered the fearsome moments that He would not have save them?
