Wow, i've been struggling with depression. I come from a disfunctional family, i'm very lonely and have never felt part of anything or anywhere, growing up my parents had me going to a different school every single year and we move constantly. Now i'm by myself because they are really toxic, violent, there are drug issues etc, and i figured i don't deserve to be mistreated. But the loneliness really shatter me, this video made me look at my life in a very practical way, you know when you are depressed you don't think straight and everything seems sooo complicated. Man you just lifted my spirit like 60%, thank you so much!

@@krisxu3581 When people wake up and realize that life itself is actually meaningless (it only matters while we are alive and then we all die, never to see the future of what we even put our efforts into), they usually never find meaning because well...people that know that life is meaningless know better than the people who live in a reality that is filled with delusion. Sure, you can brainwash yourself into being happy by distracting yourself and denying the reality of existence. It's definitely physically and mentally healthier but at the end of the day we all still have the same fate.

Life is a replicating molecule and an accident of physics and matter, with no purpose except "A survival mission that guarantees no survivors." And this only true purpose comes at the cost of every form of torture on earth. DNA created torture as a function to force life through this doomed survival mission, and DNA created deprivations which life is obligated to either fulfill, or the deprivations will cause life to suffer excruciating pain and death. This is not a matter of opinion, where anyone can just invent an imaginary purpose to keep your psyches sheltered from this reality of DNA, and make up disgustingly reckless insane reasons to perpetuate this. Seaphobe quick question. What if a person genuinely enjoys being solitary (or mostly solitary) and has rejected your presented hypothesis of wanting/needing to belong to a tribe what would you describe that as?

Belonging to a tribe does not mean being surrounded by people. Let's say you're a scientist who has the idea how to create a cure for cancer, but the research might take 10 years. Your government believes in your ideas and provides you with a laboratory, food and other resources you might need. The next ten years of your life you spend alone in a laboratory, but you still work for your tribe, are taken care and appreciated by that tribe. People are great at creating stories and making imaginary connections, so we no longer need to literally be surrounded by a literal tribe, but we still need to feel that we belong to one. For some people it is enough to imagine that the whole universe is one big family that takes care of you and appreciates you. For most people that story is not sufficient. Many religious statements, for example, are aimed at creating fictional tribe for those, who don't have one. "we all are god's children", "god loves you", "you are doing god's work"...
