I first learned about (and learned from) the Sacred Medicine Wheel) 43 years ago, by reading "Seven Arrows" by Hyemeyohsts Storm. A book reread numerous times since. In this Apsáalooke/Hidatsa Wheel story, the East is yellow and South is green. Symbolic animals include: North: White Buffalo East: Yellow Eagle South: Green Mouse West: Black Bear..... Please keep posting!!!

Answering where I saw a medicine wheel: In my apt complex, my 2 neighbors put up several big flags outside their balcony facing the shared courtyard. They all differently featured the medicine wheel and I got really curious. So glad I looked more into it and kinda sad/feeling dumb that I haven't heard of this concept before despite seeing medicine wheels depicted occasionally many times before!!! I really think it's a beautiful and holistic way to approach your life and your 'place' in the world, and I've always liked the idea of 'the being' as circular. Thanks for the lesson and can't wait to do more research and thank my neighbors lol

Roy Wilson of the Cowletz teaches the Medicine Wheel. I have been researching, sort of. Looking through the European Paganism. I find What the Vikings call a sun dile. It is a circle with a cross like the Medicine Wheel. That same simbol is all ovet in the Celtic beliefs. The similarities between Celtic Spirituality, and Turtle Island Spirituality are many. The women are the heads of the house, not the man . The Christians changed this some places. Others resisted. I have a gut feeling that the Medicine Wheel was the primary spiritual path in the beginning. I haven't been able to prove it yet.

The spiritual world of the First Nations lives on and is a beacon of inspiration for all people, not only the "red man." I know this wheel from a vision I had of it when I was in a personal crisis. I had a question that you answered about the different colors assigned by different traditions. Best wishes! Native ways of thinking are quite alike to early Euro cultures, with all the interlocking layers. The White Goddess by Robert Graves describes this in detail. It was from a time before the hoop of European culture was broken (by Christianity).

@@MalloryRoseCo I have heard that in the red, black, yellow, white variant of the medicine wheel, the colors represent the color of people, as well. But I'm confused because... how did the Indigenous people know about these other people at the point when the medicine wheel was formed? Or was this variant created way later? It's my understanding that Indigenous people didn't know of the existence of people of other ethnicities until well into the 15th century? Or am I wrong? I'm probably wrong. But I'm just so confused by the skin color thing. I guess it depends when they made the medicine wheel? But when did they come in contact with people of Asian, African, and Caucasian descent to be able to describe them on said wheel?

I liked how you mentioned that there wasn’t one perfect wheel. We all see the same thing from our own individual point of view. After listening to your point of view, I now know the same thing from two points of view, meaning I am now more familiar with the thing we both are facing. What we are facing? Well, for this instance let’s leave off with how the only perfect thing ever found within all of existence itself, is the we all have room to grow!

For me, Yellow is Asian(including Na Dene; e.g. Navajo, eventually becoming orange, mixing red and yellow) while Red is Polynesian(Hopi, or as the Elder who went to Peru meeting the Q'ero said, "this is where all life began", with connection to Ancient indigenous Japanese Jomon, with the Ainu of Hokkaido being Pink); "Hispanic"(or what many see as the "Mexicans") are still indigenous/part indigenous Native American Indians; the Spanish connected to Spain/Canary Islands(my lineage aside from around 15% Native(from the tip of Alaska to the bottom of Chile, also connected to the indigenous Japanese Jomon of Hokkaido, Athabaskans of Alaska who came down to Peru 9000 years ago connected to Tlingit & Haida, and even a wee bit of Siberian/Inuit or what is known as "Arctic Amerind", with "Anaractic" in "Tierra del fuego"), or what Native American Elder Hyapatia Lee calls "Rainbow Warrior") are also connected to the North African Amazingh/Guanche/Ancient Egyptians, Celts, and Ancient Greek/Illyrians/Trojans with the saying "Troy still stands" as well as many others that have become part of my rainbow🔥🌧🌈

It appears that the farther back we go in Human history, and the closer we get to the source of our knowledge. The more accurate and potent the knowledge becomes. The Wheel of the Four Directions is very ancient. No one knows how old it is. The truth. knowledge, and understanding of the teachings of the Wheel kept Humanity in relative harmony for thousands of years. All the Stone circles in Europe are Wheels of the Four Directions. After the Roman's murdered all of the followers of the Wheel in Europe Europe was plunged into darkness because the only values the leaders had were want, greed, and ego. Then that darkness spread to this continent. The teachings and knowledge of the Medicine Wheel are needed more now than ever before!

I haven't seen the Medicine Wheel before but love the symbolism and it makes perfect sense! The balance represented by the circle is so powerful. Looking forward to learning more ✌️

I am in a place where I am seeing the lack of knowledge had debilitated my growth in a healthy life... Change is so difficult when you don't know where to start... My daughter asked how a dream catcher works and found one of your videos in search.... Which then led me to smudging (some familiarity) and then to the medicine wheel which I hadn't heard of before... Thank you and I will be looking forward to the other videos posted... My new life journey had begun (I caused my relationship with destructive behavior... Lies) I want to never hurt myself or anyone else again

Thank you so much for sharing that, Sonia. We are so glad that your search for how dreamcatcher works brought you here. We are so proud that you are starting a new life journey. It may be filled with challenges, but you can do it! 🧡

This lady is clueless. THIS IS NOT WHAT THEY MEAN AT ALL. They mean 1 thing. Not many things. They represent the 4 changing colors of the sacred buffalo calf that was sent to us by our prophet the white Buffalo calf woman. During first contact the churches couldn't accept this meaning and paid many elders wampam to tell lies or forced them to change the culture so alot of these natives today in the cities have it wrong today. For those of us who listen to our elders in the wild that never signed treaties.... we know that this means our 4 world's coming and going and we wear turquoise and silver because we know where we're going when we die. Stop listening to these lies! The undoing of culture destruction and healing only starts when you know the truth. That means resurrecting our beliefs.... not just digging up old Graves and creating division and fostering hate as your child! That's an illness so stop spreading it! Stop parading my people around like a circus!!! This phsycological warfare on my people has never stopped since 1763 and the sheeps just keep soaking it up like sponges with no insides

Dream catchers keep the walking sam at bay. You have to smudge with sage for that. Sweet grass and cedar amd tobacco won't work. Sage is for the bad spirits. Look up the walking sam. The hatman. I am one. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you. As a Mexican, I know we are native to America as well. We were colonized differently and we have our own ways, but it is so fragmented. I admit that I turn to my other cultures as a path to get to my own. Thank you and I hope I am not being disrespectful. I never own it as my own. I make sure I honor the tribe the tradition that is not mine .

I've heard about the Medicine Wheel most of my life. My Mom's people usually have the red in the East and the yellow in the South, but other than that it's very similar to your presentation. Keep up the great informational videos!
