I know I've told you this, but I'll tell you again, I absolutely adore this project.

Thanks! I do, too, not gonna lie. I’m very happy with how much it has grown in the last few months!

What print volume dimensions would be needed to print body and neck?
@openfabpdx Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say exactly, because the shape of the bed will determine if the parts fit, in addition to the overall size. The Ender 3 can just barely fit the parts, but you have to add a couple mm to your printer definition in your slicer. I use a Makergear M2 with a build volume of 200x250x200 (x,y,z). This also just barely fits.

My son (6) is very interested in violin especially the modular fiddle, I printed one in 2020 for myself. Has anyone successfully printed one @1/4 size or will that mess with the tone too much? Just wanted to know before I import it into Rhino and attempt to scale it down.

Hey Grant -- good question! No one has made a 1/4 size yet. Unfortunately it would require a redesign from the ground up. Different violin sizes don't scale exactly as you might think they do. That said, if you find the important dimensions for a 1/4 scale violin you could certainly use the Modular Fiddle as a starting point for your design!

@@openfabpdx thank you for the reply and the advice, and using the 4 string modular fiddle as the jumping off point is probably the best place to start. I will let you know if it pans out, so you still live in PDX?I live in Beaverton.
