We have known since the start that the Dracthyr were created by Neltharion as super soldiers and he combined the scrappiness of mortals with the wisdom and power of dragons in order to battle the primalists. However what was never really talked about is what exactly is this mortal race.
Why is their natural form elven and was this an actual mortal race that Neltharion had converted or could he have used the actual essence of Azeroth the spirit, azerite in order to infuse dragon eggs and create the dracthyr. Could the Dracthyr have been a native troll tribe to the Dragon Isles and are we going to learn the true dracthyr origin as we return to Forbidden Reach in 10.0.7.

I think it would be kinda neat that as the expansion goes on, the dracthyr remember more and more of their past. Becoming warriors, mages, etc. pretty cool idea

Not to forget that there is room in forbidden reach with troll and pandaren artifacts. Also it would be weird that DI doesnt have any troll activity since its supposed to be in Amani or drakkari area before sundering. One thing keeps poppinh in my head is that there is bwonsandis mask in that room with troll stuff, could deathwing had something to do with him?

The Dragon Isles were never in amani nor drakkari areas before the sundering. They were literally off the coast of the outside of Kalimdor as shown in the trailer with Alexstrasza and stony-tony.

If it were any mortal race Troll would make the most sense. They're one of the most malleable and adaptive species on Azeroth next to dragons, given all the forms and evolutions they've taken over the years.

@Wilfu Your ontology is a bit backward. Night elves did not predate High Elves. Night Elves came "after" the High Elves, and High Elves came after Kaldorei, and Kaldorei came from trolls.

I think based off what we get they aren't mixed with mortal races or a mortal race turned into the dracthyr. I believe the titan artifact that he used allowed naltharion to manipulate a dragonkin (unsure what dragon or dragonkin egg would have been used) to add the qualities he saw from the mortal races he observed.

If the Drakanoids are too big and slow, how come Vyrkul and the guys that are on Dragon Isles considered threats to dragons? Or even a Centaur using a giant crossbow/scorpion. Every race is a threat to dragons that can use that weapon, aren't they?

Think it's drakanoids are hard to mobilize as an army but are juggernaut just below dragons and the vrykul/ giants have access to variety of tools to compensate for mobility and are also on par or better fighters. Also when you got access to siege weapons or sheer numbers threat to a dragon

This has little to do with WoW, but I have scientific reason for the Dracthyr to have strong similarities with the Dinosaurs. Deathwing may have experimented on them, but the following shows why I personally think that "Dragons coming directly from elemental powers" is a bit silly on Blizzard's part, and that natural evolution could have had a hand in this. 1.) According to research, some theropods actually had primate-like numbers of telencephalic neurons. The brain's volume and mass can be calculated using computer tomography. We see something similar going on in the Dracthyr. 2,) There was a species of bat-winged, non-avian theropod dinosaur called "Yi Qi." It looks strikingly similar to Dragons from European folklore. 3.) Thirdly, the Dracthyr share many archosaurian features in which they share with many dinosaur species, as well as related species such as birds and crocodilians. 4.) (To warn you in advance, the following is sad.) Birds such as chickens and ducks, albeit through genetic defect, could actually grow more than four legs. And my questions: why the evoker? In Legacies we saw "they are a race of fierce warriors" - and in the 3.episode we saw they in armor with SPEAR! I dont understand why they get just 2 spec. The 3.spec should be the melee dps, from they lores...

I feel troll fits the most, since both have the pointy ears and the males use the Belf body-pointing to how eventually trolls become Nelfs who become Belfs under the right circumstances.

Also, to point out the choice of Blood Elf; Blood elves, as per lineage, is the most recent generational evolution. As if saying, what you see in their visage, is what you will see in their evolution. Human, Dwarves, etc. Arent native, so probably no interest in seeing where their species would go since theyre so young as a race. Also, Deathwing had limited perception into the future. Or he was that adept as a futurist. Nos can literally travese the timeline, but he cant steer his fate into madness. And Deathwing literally saw us in our vision of the past.

... Nope... Trolls infused with magic doesn't become elves... Troll mages is an existing thing so wouldn't make sense.. Elves are an evolution of the trolls. To be more specific. Elves that lived close to the well of eternity, a well of magic that was speculated and hinted at was infused with Azeroths natural power. The Arcane is not a Titan created thing, it has already and always been there.. However. The Trolls that lived there, in peace with nature, turned into high elves. When the well collapsed during the first invasion of the Legion, the elves split. those that would ban magic from their society would become Kaldorei (Night elves) the others would become Quel'dorei (Highelves (Without the space.)). The Quel'dorei would later, after the death Anasterian Sunstrider, Kael'thas Sunstriders father, died. He changed their names into "Sin'dorei" or blood elves, in the common tongue, out of respect and declared that there would never again be a king of the Blood elves. However, they truly adopted the name Sin'dorei after they got corrupted by the power of fel, and started to drain mana from living beings to survive.

Exactly. It’s some influence from Azeroth’s energy herself. Maybe why there is Azerite in the Dracthyr area. So if Neltharion took trolls, used his Earthwarder abilities to “mine” up a bunch of Azeroth’s life essence, and mixed it with dragon powers then got dracthyr, our visage form would make sense. It’s like under the dragon influence is the troll base accelerated through the evolution process, hence why why blood elf looking appearance. What is still unclear is how he got the other aspect powers. This was long before the Dragon Soul. And no one else knew about the Dracthyr so it’s not like the aspects stopped by to channel some energy into the experiment. The only thing I can think is that Neltharion kidnapped dragon eggs. I guess he always had a dark side, even before submitting to the Old Gods. I can see him draining the energy from the eggs, either leaving them dead or causing them to hatch as proto-dragons. We see the Primalists trying to infuse dragon eggs with elemental energy to overpower the Titan influence and hatch more Primal Dragons. Wouldn’t straight up draining Titan energy from an egg do the same, except without the elemental powers?

Arcane magic is specifically a titan tool , wich is why all the primalists are angry about the blue dragonflight and anyone else using it , its titan magic and a stain on azeroth.

@@brunoraglione4681 Arcane energy is part of the Cosmos. It has always been flowing around Azeroth, though it was first truly used by the Titans when they came to Azeroth. Arcane is one of the fundamental building blocks of Azeroth herself. The titans stain that is talked about it how the Titans influenced that magic and used it for their own agenda, not because they brought Arcane. They are angry at the blue because they use/used Arcane magic as a titan would, and continued to teach it to mortal races afterwards. You gotta remember that the Titans represent Order. But the flow of arcane is by nature Chaotic, a wild occurence which the titans are profficient in controlling.

@@fightingfaerie That's a good theory. As we learn through questing we find that Tyr infused other protodrakes with the elemental powers. This caused them to evolve to reflect the element infused with them. It is fair to think that all drakes we see, have some sort of infusion and with age and power, they involve into the primal drake which element they associate with the most. Of course, that would mean that an egg has some level of infusion to begin with. If you just robbed them of any power, nothing might be born. inert eggs with husks waiting to be awoken by an influencing power. Of which there are many. The proto dragons are essentially described as power sponges, capable of absorbing all kinds of power and adaptively evolve into another form corresponding said power. So it wouldn't be a stretch that we might see new types of drakes in the future, Light, Fel, Void, Life, etc. But the only powers we got right now, are the powers that has always been native to Azeroth. I believe that the Aspects might be infused with two powers each. Arcane + Fire: Red Arcane + Ice: Blue Arcane + Earth: Black Arcane + Nature: Green Arcane + Titan: Bronze

What seems more likely........ is that cosmic Life folks were messing around with primitive native trolls just before the arrival of the Titans the very first time; and that cosmic Life team thus used the Well of Eternity wound to speed up the process of converting some of those trolls into Kaldorei Elves. The same Kaldorei Elves after whom the visage forms of dracthyr most closely resemble. And these protodragons were also probably being tampered with by cosmic Life team, so that they could absorb magic which they were close to and exposed to frequently. The very same tendency to absorb nearby magic and develop into a slightly different phenotype because of it is shared by both the early proto-dragons and also the early Kaldorei. It is very possible that Neltharion either convinced or tricked some Kaldorei to volunteer for his experiments that ultimately created the Dracthyr.
