It's an Old God that grew to a size of a continent so the titans quarantined the whole side of the planet somehow and the god has grown weaker during the ages but never truly died. They did that because they saw what happened with Y'shaarj and didn't want to risk more damage to Azeroth.

1) when you see the Map you will see the names of the old gods and the elemental lords. Might be some Elemental King that we are missing. Like who made Ragnaros, Alakir, Therazane and Neptulon. So Imo the 5th old god has 2 do with the elementals or a combine elemental over lord god king 2) Might have to do with something in the Air like a Old God Flying Whale or something. They old titans Created Glaxtron(BIG PROTO DRAKE) to fight it but they failed the experiment. 3) Also the new old god might be a Dragon or something a proto Drake that didn't not submit to the titans and joined the old gods. If you remember Nozdamu explanation they were Proto drakes that the titans basically changed. So i think the old god was one of the proto drakes that didnt allow his kids to be changed and was imprisoned.

"there is no final boss" the biggest quote in wow expansion history. my expectations for dragonflight r that it will have no villain as they said. itll have LOTS of villains with individual plots leading into future expansions or branching games. giving us a new continent with the expectation of zones opening up over years and new bosses and stories to go along side for them to pick and choose at. this opens us up to anything from a titan hunt to the black empire 2.0, emerald nightmare 3.0, every old gods return, xal coming back, new old god that might not be xal, the primal dragons, the individual flights including a black flight war, the return of neltharion/death wing, the return of the elemental lords, the return of galakrond, the number of possibilities for large scale broad stories is HUGE since they openly stated they rnt focusing on ONE villain. simply the best thing they could have done as players CANT be disappointed aslong as they follow through with supplying content. given the changes to staff and the better story narrative this go around, im looking forward to wats to come for the first time in a few years

I think you should really stop thinking in the lines of good and evil, just because the Black Empire was prosperous doesn't mean they are trying to paint them as the good guys. The Empire could've been an amazing place for the void creatures and those who served them but a nightmare for anyone who didn't like it. Just like with the Titans, they brought "order" and "beauty" and "life" but did they really? They were just as tyrannical as the void, where they would make everyone obey them and anyone who was agaisnt them was the enemy. Can we please stop throwing good and evil alignments on everything and everyone? I think what Blizzard is trying to do is show that "good and evil" are not so clear cut and that everyone is out for themselves, trying to win over Azeroth for their benefit, doesnt make them good or evil, they just are.

They just are, they don't really have a mind of their own they have a job and "goal". They were all created to create the Universe of Azeroth, they are machines, they are something that is needed to keep everything together that's why if any power wins in their eternal conflict it will all end. Every side is more akin to rain, the sun, the trees. They don't really have a "will" like the creatures of Azeroth, they have a function and they obey it. That's also why every function has an opposite, Light, Dark, Fire, Water etc...Every function is there to limit and control every part of the creation of Azeroth and it's universe. Light vs Void, Order vs Chaos, Life vs Death, there is no "good" or "evil" in the cosmic scene. Everything is a construct and everything needs to checked and balanced for everything to work correctly. We've already seen what happens when the Light has no one to fight it, or when Life doesn't have Death to keep it in check or when Chaos has no Order. People need to stop seeing everything as a "good" vs "evil" simply because no matter who wins we will be fucked. To the creatures of Azeroth one side winning would mean complete disaster, because there would be no Balance we, the players, would have no world to return to or life to live. Each piece of cosmos is a cog and they all need to exist for everything to work properly

The Black Empire was a marvelous and wonderful to be... for whatever type of creatures that existed there... The mortal races as we know them, Trolls, Orcs, Humans, Dwars and etc. For them it would be inhabitable, but let us take into consideration that Black Empire is supposedly from a very early age of Azeroth. And even our own earth have had 6 mass extinction on earth that have completely changed the life on the planet... Making it highly plausible that there existed a civilization that could thrive under The Black Empire way, way, way before any of the species we know of today exists... My point & conclusion is that there existed life before the Titan order, the titans wiped them out and made it habitable for the life form we are more familiar with. It is highly likely that most of the species we know of are "invasive" in the eyes of the Old gods.

The problem with that is that Azeroth isn't the Old God's world anymore than the Titans. It belonged to the Elementals. The Old God came killed and enslaved what they could.
