I met Mickey Mantle in person signing at a show in N.Y.C. Mr. Mantle signed a 16 x 20 picture for me, where I asked Mr. Mantle to please inscribe, "536 home runs". Mr. Mantle looked at me and instead of inscribing his career total in home runs, he inscribed, "Yankees 1951-1968". I thanked Mr. Mantle over and over for his glorious inscription. I have never that inscription on any other Mickey Mantle autograph. Yes, I still have that autograph and that glorious inscription.

I found the Duke of Wellingtons signature on a Parliament Freepost note from 1839 in a box of Victorian envelopes. I paid £3 for the box not knowing it was in there. Had it valued and verified and sold it for £200. I do regret selling it now!

These are not necessarily the "most expensive" autographs. The reason why these ones sold for a lot because it was more the significance of the signed item. To have what might be the last thing JFK signed is a lot different than just having a signed photo of him which you can get for $1,000 to $3,000. You can also purchase a Joe DiMaggio photo for around $250

I’m in no way an Autograph collector but I do have a bit of a controversial Signature that no one will seem to touch. It’s The late WWE wrestler Chris Benoit who was arguably one of the best professional wrestlers ever, anyways he was over in Scotland in 2004 and was doing a photo shoot for a local news paper and my sister ended up being chosen as the kid to be photographed with him, to cut a long story short I got to spend some time in a Q&A with Benoit where he signed a few Autographs for me, I still have 2 of them but the for those who aren’t aware of his story in 2007 due to the amount of head trauma he sustained in the wrestling industry Benoit’s brain was basically the equivalent to an elderly person with dementia. This lead him to kill his family and then soon after to take his own life at just age 40.

VERY misleading video. The signatures on these items aren't what's that expensive. The items they are signed on are what makes them expensive. Lennon's autograph can be obtained for as little as $5K, Ruth's around the same amount. Jimmy Page is really cheap but the guitar is what makes it valuable. And of course Kennedy's last autograph is worth infinitely more than one from 1960.

Christopher Palmer when Chapman shot Lennon he had put the record in a planter at the Dakota the next day a building superintendent came by and the record fell out of the planter and the guy gave it to the police after Chapman was convicted the building superintendent ask for the autograph back and four years he kept it under his bed and finally decided to sell it you can see the KZbin video on living murder
