In the 1980's, the U.S. Army has an MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) called 12E or Twelve Echo. Soldiers with this MOS were trained to carry a tactical atomic munition into battle. Their mission was to emplace the munition at a pre-determined location on the battlefield, and arm the weapon. The soldier would then leave the area and allow the atomic munitions to detonate. The atomic munition was designed to "Take out a grid square"; approximately 1000m X 1000m area. The program was discontinued in the late 80's. Who knows where the atomic munitions went?

Nuclear hand grenades. I’ll bet they had them. Special units of Homer Simpsons.

12-echo was my primary mos with the army. The s,a,d,m was mentioned in this article but the name was not, medium atomic demolition munition

Smaller weapons are maybe possible, americiam 241 is a element that could be used to produce a cigarette sized bomb I have read which makes smoking even more deadly.

Something tells me that the US, Russia and others still have plenty of these.

They are MUCH smaller now
@subdrvr4 ай бұрын
They took them out of service many years ago. Too small to be of any use aside from their original purpose of blowing dams.

Possible. But the Soviet ones had permissive action links, so you need special codes and such to actually use it. The U.S SADM just has a combination lock

12 Russian briefcase NB’s went missing when the wall came down. These things could easily take out as strategic airport from outside the perimeter, moreover, their whereabouts are still unknown.

@Walter-wo5sz4 ай бұрын
@@kellyward7090 yes, the one the bomber jettisoned over Maryland is really troubling. There is also tons of nuclear material missing that the AEC says are just accounting errors. I believe our government probably gifted this material to Israel and accounting errors are a poor cover story.
