Here in Northern Alberta Canada. Deer Activity takes a major switch MID September. There are a few factors, the 2 biggest 1. Agriculture lands are being Harvested 2. Rifle season Opens for everything Elk, Moose, Deer, and Bear on Sept 17th The pressure from Hunters is incredible, to the point of some of our higher populated Deer and Elk areas sound like warzones. Even though this video is directed to American populations, alot can be applied to us here in Alberta. From what i notice, the deer activity has increased. ESPECIALLY in bucks. However, they are pretty well ALL nocturnal. Great video!

Good Morning from Central Illinois and thanks for the update. We've only hunted one Evening this year. In the last week we've seen a major drop in getting trail cam pics as well.

Great video, I hunt southeast Nebraska on 5 farms all to myself. 90% of it is just strips of timber and all corn or bean fields. Absolutely no oaks of any kind so EVERYWHERE is a good source so I strictly hunt travel corridors near bedding areas. I have 28 permanent ladder stands so hunt the best stand based on wind. 🏹🏹🦌🦌. Keep videos coming 👍

I agree a 100% about the Oct. lull my white oaks started dropping a week ago here in Oklahoma and the deer have abandoned my gravity feeders and food plots. They will start hitting the feeders and plots again around mid November here.

hard to beat a white oak when it's dropping

I'm hunting a natural travel corridor on 5 and half acres and basically hunting 3quarters of an acre,I watched last as buck after buck avoiding the pressure, the main mature buck always beds within eyesight of every stand and always with the wind in his favor,I watched him avoiding them for 4 days and now I know the trees just where I'm hoping to get my chance at a true monarch talk about a learning lesson from a true master of his environment ,the craziest part is how calmly he does it, he bedded right in between 3 ladder stands and 2 climber stands,and he is pushing 170 6 1/2 years, he makes it look easy

700 acres all to myself and the wife, haven't hunted yet at all. By end of September bucks broke up and headed to their winter bedrooms. A couple of bucks have traveled over 600 yards from the river to feeders. Now white oaks are covering the ground in a few places hardly any action at feeders. Mostly yearlings and a couple of doe with fawns. NOt really any bucks hitting the feeders now. But I don't think it's hunting pressure in most situations it's just what bucks do every year. Hunted same place 26 years and its yhe same every year except it's 90 degrees in Oklahoma so not much buck activity but next week a cool front and usually by Halloween big bucks start sneaking around more in daylight. Good luck to all.

My best spot year after year is full of red oak acorns and the deer were all over them. The white oaks didn't produce here this year. But, the bears have also moved in and all but run the deer out of town. We had a bumper crop last year of both red and white oaks and it seems that some trees are producing this year while others aren't. It's going to be interesting to see if the bears lay off for a while. I won't hunt it until they do.
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
Hopefully those bears move on so your deer herd moves back in

Give it some time :) You've got the number one thing bucks want during the rut!

My camera was red hot with activity the last 7 days it’s been a ghost town, I’m thinking the acorns are all over the ground and they do t have to move around much ? Plus it’s been 74’ daytime high which doesn’t help
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
that could be the case. seems alot of areas had a bumper crop of acorns this year

Deer are finding new food sources, which means they are moving outside their ranges. they travel further so a lot of night pics are deer coming from 1 mile or more away. deer also will graze on things that are limited 1st, then they will cruise to the main food.

you nailed it!

Was getting good activity over scrapes from late August through all of September,but as of the first week of October the activity has slowed down up to today as I post this.im not hunting these areas and my cameras are collecting and sending data to me when available.the food sources are acorns, natural browse with high stem count,cut hay Fields and apple and pear trees.
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
Could be that the food sources are changing

Today is October 21 2024, it's currently 10 o'clock,just left my stand ,and I'm finding scrapes being literally torn open, getting close

I'm hunting an edge within an edge on my property right now in a transition area. The problem I'm experiencing is I have at least four good deer paths that they are coming in from. How do I combat that as far as wind direction goes?
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
That can be tricky, it sounds like you are pushing far within the property if you have main paths coming from behind. When we hunt within the interior, deer will get behind us eventually and that's when having a great scent control routine comes in. You could also try to create a blocker behind the stand to push more deer in front.

I never even hunt till november, and then only when it’s cold and when the wind is out of the southwest.
@MarthaTorres-gu7vdАй бұрын
Mine is northwest. The next week is southwest. I don't even bother with southwest winds anymore.

Similar to red oaks for our deer herd. They'll eat them but a little bit later

When they are no longer moving or seem like that it means its time to get out of the stand and learn how to still hunt.
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
We don't do much of that on our private land, but I have seen some videos of guys still hunting. very impressive!

every good hunter knows deer will eat acorns first over any food plot or corn
@whitetailevolutionАй бұрын
we see that with varieties of white oaks, but not the reds. They'll eat the reds, but not until later in the year.

Best way to beat the “lul”, don’t hunt It :)
@Davidjohnson-zd3bk2 ай бұрын
You must hunt private land..because a public hunter can't waste a month not hunting... stupid answer

Pressure is why the lull is caused. So go ahead and make it worse. Lmaoh. The deer are still out there. There just not were your sitting everyday.
