Based on the original Prometheus script, the Goo in the Prometheus prologue and the Black Goo Mutagen are different substances. The original Goo was an authentic evolutionary accelerant. Alien Romulus kind of implies two different ways to see the whole Xenomorph story: 1) First we had the Xenomorphs as the perfect lifeform but with an unknown origin. Then the engineers captured some to create the black goo for their own experiments. After some time David showed up and recreated a Xenomorph like species that might still be around. 2) It can also be seen as the engineers actually creating the black goo which later lead to David creating the Xenomorphs. In both cases the engineers added their own DNA to the mix. However, the second theory has the main problem that Prometheus already showed the facehuggers, a queen and a Protomorph or Xenomorph very early in the game on a statue/wall painting. I prefer the first theory since it gives the Xenomorphs more backstory without ruining the whole mystery about their species. Moreover, it makes more sense that some kind of engineer cult (or maybe the whole species) worshipped the Xenomorphs and tried to become like or using them

As I understand it, Kay and Tyler were only half-siblings, so she and Bjorn were only related by Kay and Tyler's parents' marriage. I quite enjoyed it over all, but the incongruous one-liners from previous films did nothing to improve the movie and should've been left on the cutting room floor. The Rook character should've just been a completely different model of android. Having his guts hanging out would let us know he's not a human, while still tastefully referencing both Ash, and Bishop's fate. A CGI Ian Holm cameo would be better served as glitchy recording on a CRT screen to reduce The Uncanniness. Wasn't a fan of the Offspring design myself, but liked the weirdness of that element of the story, which I'd have liked to have seen resolve in a way other than the lead getting it out of an airlock in some way. But yeah quite big gripes in an otherwise good film.

So what Fedé didn’t get the memo? Now we’re stuck with another albino hybrid embarrassment that looks like an engineer for some reason. Such a bad movie. You can’t get a facehugger from a Xenomorph DNA. ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT CLONING CAN TELL YOU. You’d be able to make another Xenomorph with Xenomorph DNA. To get a facehugger you’d need facehugger DNA 🧬 which is different than Xenomorph DNA. Once you pull on that thread, and stealing a spaceship is apparently easy as can be, and Wayland Yutani wouldn’t leave facehuggers abandoned anywhere! They’d go to extremes to get one, so that made no sense. Raising the temperature when they thrive in a hot humid environment doesn’t work either. The whole thing is just embarrassing. They gave no thought to a timeline of implantation and birth of the Xenomorph. It seemed like there were more Xenomorphs than people who came on the ship. And all the stupid call backs and shot for shot copies. I’ll never watch it again. It was that bad.
