i really enjoy the size of the 7.8" display of the inkpad 4, it's not the zippiest ereader and is quite heavy relative to the more portable options, but with the use of Fast_Sans/Serif fonts and the line length set to how you describe, reading truly is effortless on the eyes and on my comprehension.

Sounds really great

Thanks Stefan for this video, it's useful to have the "expert" recommendations as I need to read a lot of papers and need to be fast. I agree with your preferences and keep the "slow" reading for my "pleasure" reading.

I got curious and counted the numnber of characters with my settings on my Kobo Libra Colour. In the portrait mode, it was 53 and 78 with the landscape mode. So, not bad😊 I always feel more comfortable reading with the landscape mode.

Great yeah on my Libra I also often read in landscape mode.

I have both a 6 and 7 inch e-readers and I find it easier on the eyes to not move them too much from left to right, so I prefer the 6 with huge font than the 7

Yes me too. So basically the researchers are right. Around 45 characters in line length is great. Or less depending on how large font.

Thanks for video and link to the wiki reference page. Interesting. "Texts for expert readers could contain between 45 and 80 characters, with an optimal count of 60 characters."

Do you have favorite font to read? Sans or serif?
@svartling3 ай бұрын
I prefer sans font. My favorite is Atkinson hyperlegible. Which are your favorite?

@@svartling oh! I’ve ever installed it on my kobo but my kobo became slow after that. I don’t know why. The new kobo devices have Atkinson as one of default fonts. Right now I use Avenir Next but I’ve been using Lexend Deca for quite a while (like a year or so), and then I now use either Avenir Next or Chareink
@svartling3 ай бұрын
Nice. I haven’t seen Lexend Deca I think.
@ImogenValkyrie3 ай бұрын
@@svartling it is said that lexend deca helps people who have difficulty reading (faster) but don’t have dyslexia. I like this font but sometime when I read in my bed and get sleepy, the A and the O look similar. That’s why I changed to either avenir next, chareink, literata book

Maybe it s possible to use the reader orizontally to gain more caracters. Ciao
@svartling9 күн бұрын
I don’t like that personally but it is possible

Yeah I think that's bunk. The experts don't know what works for everyone. I read much faster and with more focus with a larger font and line spacing.
