Eye fatigue is the biggest disadvantage but battery life is close second. I was on holiday with a friend of mine and I lent him my Kobo for a few hours so that he can finish his book which he forgot to bring. I read using my phone during that time. It was 3 hours and he probably lost 3-4% or so but I lost a whooping 43%. It was with using the dark mode but close to 100% brightness. It wasn't a pleasant experience even with full brightness because even though max brightness is more than 1000 nits, it is not enough to combat the glare on the glass. Also, 4:3 aspect ratio is much better than 21:9 to read books in my opinion. And lastly, using a different device than your phone feels better while reading a book. I can't concentrate with the phone. E-reader feels sort of like a book even though it is also an electronic device. I can read for hours since its only ability is to show text like a real book.

I have been wanting a Boox Palma but I’m hesitant at the moment since I have already purchased two ereaders very recently among other other reasons. I have tried making my iPhone a bit more comfortable to read on. Someone shared on an ereader board to go to accessibility settings where you can “reduce white point” which helps the whites not be so bright so it helps when reading in dark mode and change the brightness of the colors to a more pale color on “color filters” and changing the grayscale setting. It has made it easier on my eyes. I like that on my phone it has “speak” and being able to change orientation etc. I’m hoping to add a matte screen protector to help with the glare. But yes, it is a very nice and different experience to use an ereader. I have the kobo Clara BW and the kobo Libra Colour.

Yeah maybe it was my very popular video: How to minimize Headaches, Migraines & Eye Strains when reading on an iPhone or iPad (Android too) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iojCg2aFZqmgq80 I also have many videos about text to speech

@@svartling oh that’s very nice, I’ll check your other videos out. I can use those tips in the meantime. Thank you!

Love your videos. What e reader would you recommend for the best display of maps, diagrams etc displayed in books?

A color reader maybe if they are in color. And as big as possible. At least 8-inch. Kobo sage maybe but it’s not in color. Onyx Boox has some larger e-readers. Check them out.

How is your boox palma behaving? Is it as fast/slow as kobo? Or is it slower? I have onyx boox nova and it’s very slow! I think because it’s old, although my kobo aura ed. 2 is faster than my boox nova
@svartling3 ай бұрын
The onyx Boox Palma is incredibly fast because it has BSR. Boox Super Refresh technology with its own GPU. So it is much faster than all my kobos if I want. But when I enjoy a long reading session I turn on HD mode and then it saves battery and have about the same speed as the latest kobos.

@@svartling ohh! I just remember about the modes on onyx! I think I used slow mode on my onyx. But now it’s too slow to change it. I better buy a new one. My boox is from 2017 i believe. Maybe older.
@svartling3 ай бұрын
At that time they hadn’t invented BSR

@@svartling alright. I had no idea about it. Time to buy a new one
@svartling3 ай бұрын
@ImogenValkyrie yeah but not all has BSR. The new go 6 hasn’t for example.
