You are right in saying it is not at all easy to become a member of the Order of Malta, but this doesn't mean that the rest of us cannot find an apostolate that would allow us to serve those in need while doing the work of Christ. You might begin by looking within your own parish or your own diocese. The Church provides us with many ways in which we can serve the needy often very close to home. Mother Teresa said “You can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see.” God bless.

That's not the point. Why does catholic nobility have a kind of privilige in getting into such an order or you need to be a volunteer for a long time before you get any chance. I bet that in medieval times these orders were not as picky as today. That's why its not so strange to think that sometimes its like a kind of friends club instead of being open to every good practicing catholic thatis serioysly interestedin joining. Afcourse you can do good work and helping others by joining other orders, etc....

They fought in most of the crusades including the first one.To take Jerusalem and the holy land.They lost most of the territory and where on the island of Rhodes when the ottomans invaded they were given malta by the king of Aragon and Castile modern day spain they fought raiding missions angst the ottomans and Tripoli who conducted piracy angst christian lands the US and a france along with the crusaders defeated these pirates and had lands on the coast to prevent them from doing so the ottomans failed to take Malta in the 1800s during the Napoleonic war the British occupied malta to "ensure the french did not attack" according to an agreement they would release Malta when the war was over but they never did years latter malta becomes more and more indipident during decolonization malta becomes a republic and the crusaders are given 2 castles on the island

This order accepted you as long as you were a serious catholic. You weren't nobility? That's ok, you get to be a sergent but you were a templar. But you guys sound more like a catholic rich mens club. I thought Jesus did not make such a big difference between humans...anyway, enjoy your membership.
