Great podcast, how do you respond when friends attend local seeker mega churches who say the "milk/short/positive" sermons, great music, and great childrens is for NON believers who need to hear the Word and small groups on Weds nights are for believers to grow? I know this isnt "Biblical" as you mentioned but what is a loving respectful way to reply to them , I know a LOT of them since we use to be one. All for the truth. (our past seeker church followed Hybels/Warren examples of asking NON believers what they would want in a church and they gave to them (20min Ted talks, no sin , Revelation, repentance, or hell, etc) and it works to "grow" (6 campuses) but way too high % of false conversions and weak theology believers who never do Great Commission.)

What is the purpose of the Church: Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned, then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn. Matt13:29

There is a purpose, and then there is a reality as to how that works out. It sounds like you are speaking to the second rather than the first.

The purpose of the church was God had to raise a group of people to spread the Good News, since the Jews rejected the MESSIAH.

That said, let us not forget the church began with Jews, that their hardening is only in part (Romans 11:25), and that there will always be a remnant (Romans 11:5) until the final redemption of the nation (Romans 11:26).
