I've met Lee Meriwether in person years ago at a private party and she's very charming and definitely knows how to speak to her fans. I loved all three for their unique take of the role! Julie Newmar was sassy and always flirting with Batman! Eartha was very over the top villainous and truthfully scared me a bit as a small child when my brother watched the show which meant she was doing her job! Haha!

When Miss Julie became the Catwoman , I was but a small lad of 4. Me remembers muh dad was so glued to the TV that muh mom had to smack him several times to keep him from drooling so much. Also, much to muh innocence, I asked muh dad what was those pointy things on the Catwoman's chest. Much to the horror that muh mom shown, muh dad just grinned and said " That's muh boy" then muh mom smacked muh dad again. True story. Miss Julie is still muh favorite still unto this day of 2024. * I know now what those pointy things are on Miss Julie's chest. 🤗

I Always Wondered About This! I actually personally preferred Eartha Kitt's portrayal. Not that I didn't love Julie Newmar. But I just always preferred Eartha Kitt. Julie Newmar would kill Batman if she absolutely had to but she loved him. She was conflicted. Eartha Kitt would have sl*t his throat,gone to eat dinner after and not lost a wink of sleep that night.

I like both Lee Merriwether and Julie Newmar equally. Eartha Kitt wasn't as much "dad" candy as them. She made the Catwoman character actually scarry. 😨

Julie Newmar was a busy woman it seems! lol. Still a blessing in disguise, as it gave different actresses a chance to add their own style and nuance to the character, instead of just carbon copying Julie Newmar. If there was a way to combine each actress performance into a single Catwoman character, the Batman show itself would have to be banned from the air, because it would have been too much for the censors to handle during that decade. It’s unfortunate how Julie Newmar was part of a film that in the end didn’t go anywhere when they made the movie, which she didn’t know about until it was too late. They originally wanted to make the movie first, but decided to make it into a show instead and because of the shows success, they made the movie. Again, Julie Newmar had no idea about the film until she was part of the film that eventually got abandoned and by the time that film was abandoned, it was too late for her to be in the Batman movie since they had been shooting it by that point. I did know that she was part of another movie which did come out in 1969 during the last season, called Mackenna’s Gold, hence why she was replaced again. Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt did a very good job though, but I’ve always loved the chemistry between Julie Newmar and Adam West the best. Keep up the great work Rick, I hope you’re doing well. I like Julie Newmare. But Lee Meriwether was good also. I think that they got Lee because she may be the only one that could speak in a Russian accent and pronounce Russian names. For her other character in this Batman movie. Plus, Meriwether stared in a Star Trek episode around that time. That got others that made Batman interested in her too. Its interesting how they each brought something unique to the part and even the height difference between the very tall Julie and much smaller Eartha Kitt. I give the producers and writers a lot of crefit for msking all these characters work for the different actors.

I found an interview with Lee that was done in 1966 during the promotional tour for the movie and Lee said that Julie hurt her back when explaining why she wasn’t catwoman in the movie and to me the cover up statement was she had another project Commitment cause Lee did make an appearance on the show in a king tut plot playing a date of Bruce Wayne named Lisa Carson who ultimately is kidnapped but king tut so all 3 actress were on the show just not as catwoman also Julie would return for the doctor Casandra episode where all the criminals were made invisible but ultimately wasn’t paid for it cause they decided to have Batman shoot the lights out for the big fight scene so ida lupino and Howard duff were the only villains that got paid for the episode

It's been a while since watching any of this series. I remember Batman was meeting Catwoman, and when she appears he makes a remark about how she is actually on time. A joke that would go over the heads of the youngest viewers.

Frank Gorshin and John Astin both played The Ridder. I like Julie Newmar as the Catwoman more, which is not take anything away from the others It's always a tall order for any actor or actress to replace an established character and have to be compared to whom they replaced, fairly or unfairly.

She's always fascinating no matter what she is doing. Lee was adequate, certainly not bad but not the other two.

I saw the original program way back when it first aired! I was in college and we did t have personal TV sets in our rooms - not allowed back then - we had a TV Room and twice a week it was packed full for Batman! We all read out load the printed sounds! It was great! I haven’t seen any of the programs for years till my local cable system had METV. So every Saturday night after watching Svenghooli, Batman comes on! It’s fun to see them again but it’s also a little cringe worthy! Julie Newmar is the only Cat Woman for me - ehhh for the other ladies!
