As an adult in her mid 30s finally trying out an old Sears Kenmore that I inherited, 15+years from my home ec class, this was so helpful. Thank you!

Very good tip. You have quite a variety of bobbins there. It's so important to know which is which, when you have multiple machines. I have several Singer machines (old and new) and I have 5 different types of bobbins for them. My other brands use bobbins different from those! If possible, I write the model on them, or (if metal) use an engraver to etch the model on. Thanks Laura. Merry Christmas.

Being of the age that I am thankful for the eyesight I have left, but yearn for my youth when threading the machine needle. My machine only has one spool pin, so to fill a bobbin, unthread needle to get end of thread, wrap around bobbin.-------. I usually have 2 spools of same color. I get the spare spool, wrap around bobbin to get started, put in place. I put an artist brush in hole of thread so I can hold in place, fill away, put in bobbin case--- I don't have to retread machine needle.

that is so funny, because know exactly what you are talking about...I do the same with my little featherweight but I use a chop stick !!! I think the eyes of the needles get smaller everyday!

Everyone says look in your manual. Well my new singer 4452 heavy duty says nothing about size bobbin. Sides are flat so class 15. But my brother takes sa156 (15j is same I think) and are not interchangeable from what I've read.

You need to look real close, and give one a try. It must fit and not wobble.

For bobbins, I would recommend you go to a repair shop or a quilt shop and have them order you the correct size. Or see if you can order right from Singer www.singer.com/ That way you will have the right ones.

Hello, should the tension for the bobbin for nylon thread be a bit stronger than for polyester thread? So with the drop test for polyester about an inch drop but for nylon maybe a 1/2 drop?
@SewVeryEasy9 жыл бұрын
+Mike Phillips It is very hard for me to say, as all thread is so different even nylon. Some thread company's have a app to help with their thread, see if yours has one and Here is a video that might help kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYjPlXx9nbt8g5Y let me know if this helps:)
