Jeans are a weird one because they are generally never bespoke. So every body looks different in every cut of jeans. A good example is if a short, skinny man wears a slim fit, it can appear that he is wearing a straight cut. Or, a large man with extremely muscular legs will wear a bootcut and it appears like a slim cut on him. You should never tell someone which cut to wear. Jeans must be tried on for each individual. I love this channel so much.

Jeans are viewed as “comfort clothing”, yet they are incredibly uncomfortable when compared to chinos or trousers. It’s funny how many people view jeans and a t shirt as comfortable and a suit as uncomfortable and constricting 😂. It’s the opposite for me. I do not own a single pair of jeans and plan to keep it that way.

Fantastic. A lot of men think they’re too cool for jeans or canvas workwear. If jeans are worn properly like the military cuts there’s a good place during casual daywear for all those purpose built clothing items Proff, I will buy ask okey jeans if you make them. High rise, roomy legs slight taper under the knee. Heavy selvedge, nothing slubby. Men ought to look like men

I think there's a style out there where fabrics like denim could be used in formalwear without being outside of the norm? the raw denim style is something worth examining for making something that's treated casually into something styled just like formalwear!

Usually somewhere between a slim to straight cut is correct for most people depending on their size. Some larger people might need a relaxed cut. The skinny and baggy cuts should be avoided

Modern, thick, heavyweight jeans with lots of texture (due to short-staple cotton) are fun and fade in interesting ways, but they tend to wear out quickly, leading to fraying and holes. Chinos, on the other hand, perform better in Martindale abrasion tests. However, holes don’t necessarily signal the end of life-they open the door to sashiko repairs. Please consider offering a thick wool denim in twill, broken twill, or even jacquard, still bespoke, with Hermes-level stitching. A blend of undyed white, gray, and brown wool fibers would be ideal. Don’t focus on fade, as other brands with extensive experience already meet that demand. Instead, aim for something more casual and durable than your current offerings, but still sharp and dressy. Mixing in extra-long staple organic, undyed Pima or Sea Island cotton could improve performance. A cotton warp and wool weft combination sounds particularly interesting and unique.

For a man on a tight budget, Wrangler 13MWZ jeans are an excellent value for selvedge denim jeans im a traditional straight cut with a higher rise than most brands of jeans.

The thing with me and jeans is the waist cut and the width of the thigh also the crouch. I want to be comfortable while I'm walking, but I also want to be comfortable when I sit down. I don't want to choke my crouch and thighs. I also don't want the waist to high or to low when I sit.

Modern denim is such a weird material. I understand that it started as durable work clothes, but the fabric used for jeans these day has moved a long way from that. Denim is extremely susceptible to wear and tear, there's nothing durable about it, at all. Also, it is hot when the weather is warm, cold when it's cold, it absorbs dirt and water like a dishrag, and gets super cold and uncomfortable when wet. I have a hard time thinking of anything less practical for work or nature. But it looks good. In fact the way it develops visible wear, patterns and creases when you use it is the attractive feature. It is what makes a pair of jeans look good. It also stretches and adopts slightly to your body shape, like shoe leather does, so the fit can be both attractive and comfortable, at least if you have a nice butt to show off. I wear jeans, oxblood DrMartens and a carefully chosen t-shirt along with a formal jacket for semi-formal occasions. But I'd never take any of those clothes when I'm hiking, hunting or riding a bike! Finally. Never ever ever buy expensive denim clothes with pre-applied wear and tear! Rich people wearing pretend-poor clothes is extremely distasteful. Don't do it. That's all I have to say on the matter.

I love clothes. I have them aplenty. I feel comfortable in everything I wear. I own slim and straight leg jeans. It depends on how they fit me. I don't like skinny jeans because they are uncomfortable to me. That is my personal choice. Therefore, comfortability is the key here.

Like anything else, the fit is down to personal preference. Either a high rise straight cut or slim straight cut would be best for traditional heritage workwear comfort.(Maybe medium rise, to fit the majority of the population as not everyone likes the look of high rise). As for drape if you have a jean with say 8-15% PU and the rest a cotton blend; you can achieve a sort of drapiness that with proper hemming can look quite nice! Cheers!

I'm inclined to agree with you in regards to drape with blended fabrics, but personally I can give up a bit of drape if it means having clothes with as little synthetic fabric as possible. In my personal view, the only synthetic thread that should touch your jeans is maybe a little elastane or spandex for stretch.

You can get high waisted denim with no belt loops - Levis 1890`s - 1920`s replicas - and made for braces/suspenders. That would be the profs cut I believe - forget all this talk about skinny jeans!

I feel the rise on the 501 is a bit too low, unless you try to find something modelled after the old 501 from the 1940s and 50s. But that’s just my preference. Iron heart has a couple of jeans that have similar cuts to a Levi 501, but with altogether better construction and material (but also like 5x the price 😅)

the distance between the crotch seam and the waistband. there are three options: low rise mid rise (most common today) high rise (the gold standard) high rise makes your leg line appear longer and if you've got some area in your stomach it will help hide it to an extent. it is also more comfortable and prevents plumber's crack. it depends on your body type but a good rise for the modern gentleman ought to be somewhere between 12 and 14 inches depending on your body type, or, just above your belly button. if you're comfortable going higher, as seen in the golden age of menswear, you can absolutely do so but you should experiment to make sure the proportions are right. i'm 5'7 ~205 lbs and i like a 12 - 13 inch rise

Some of us like having variety of different trousers in our wardrobes for different situations and seasons. Jeans are great in the middle of winter in more casual settings when you aren’t wearing your tailored clothing. A pair of dark indigo jeans actually looks quite nice and is usually the recommended pair to have. The key is just to not to default to the same blue jeans every single day like most people seem to do
