What Is the Shenango Dog Boy?

He is dead now, actually awhile back. I have heard this story before too. It's called Hypertrichosis, a disease where hair covers most of the body. I heard a story when I was little about the Shenango Valley Dog boy from my grandfather. The boy was born in the mid 40's with the disease Hypertrichosis and his Grandmother was horrified. She was all about her reputation. She was a nasty old woman who lived with her elderly sisters ( thus the witches) and convinced her son and daughter in law that the boy was obviously retarded as well as deformed. They hid him in the old barn where they kept their dogs and the child grew up acting like the dogs he was forced to exist with. He eventually passed away one winter, as rumor has it, he froze to death out their in the barn. Do I believe the story. Well if I had to believe in something, I would take the story my grandfather told us. It's logical and very possible. People did not understand diseases or mental retardation back in the day and hid many of these poor children away under very dirty and horrific conditions.

i am not from pennsylvania but i know a few folks down there that commonly go through the Shenango valley and they gave me a version that he also caught rabies and burned his face on a fire making it dark as his hair and scaring the fuck out of people because of the extreme anger portrayed by the boy and he watched creatures from the canidae family and started to mock them and died and born in the same way but that is the version i was told by some pensylvanians but an okie wont be as fluent in their folklore

For anyone doubting this story, I had lived there for my childhood, and multiple people have seen a large beast, covered in hair, that walks on 4s but also has been known to stand and walk like a person, been being sighted for at least the last 10 years.
