What Is the Turbo System Lock and How to Use It on a MasterMind TCD | Specialized Turbo E-bikes

Please Specialized add some features: - Lock without app (as unlocking is also possible without) - Add a bike to multiple accounts (bikes shared within a family) e.g. by authorizing this from the main account. That would also be used to prevent pairing with someone elses bike - auto-unlock when connected / auto-lock when disconnected (Bosch) - provide a widget to lock/unlock I have the feeling during development you had in mind that people go on longer rides and only lock the bike every now and then. Using a Vado or Como in town during daily live is different. I need to lock and unlock the bike several times when going from store to store etc. Locking and unlocking should be as efficient as possible. Bosch has clearly the better system for such use cases at the moment.

Very disappointing that it can still be pedaled. And using it is too complicated. It should lock automatically when turned off, and could be opened with NFC chip or something. And is the alarm really coming only from the screen? But the screen you have to take with you, otherwise it will be stolen?

when will you guys add a physical lock so the bike couldn't be used at all and what about GPS tracking with celluar to get the bike back in case stolen? Or a nice hidden place to stick an AirTag would be great too

@mtcollinsful ....I agree...it's a shameful oversight. And one that's not gone unnoticed by Specialized. I suspect there may be a fundamental limitation in their system that prohibits the implementation of this function. What that may be is anyone's guess.

Hi I’ve activated the lock but the alarm doesn’t come on. How do you trigger the alarm? I would like to test it to see what it sounds like and see how loud it is. Thanks

hello friends i have a 2021 turbo levo 29 alloy and did the whole registration and such at the bike store and have ridden twice on it. but on the mission control app i still can't find the lock feature, is it on some models only?

The Specialized way seems to be if you like a new feature then hock your recently purchased $4k+ bike and go buy a new one.

Hello! Thanks for your question. This feature is compatible with the Mastermind TCD only. The TCU(ten indicator bars for battery level) is not compatible, unfortunately.

HI, I have one question: how long lasts the battery btw. how much the battery drains from the lock function? Are there some eperiences (e.g. 100% Battery / 710 Wh = lasts 14 Days for the Lock function). Because the bike may stood some days in the cellar, and it would´t be a good surprise when the battery is empty.

What does the alarm do? Does it make noise or just scold you on the screen? Does it notify you via the phone app if the alarm goes off?

Hi! Your bike likely has our TCU, the lighted indicator with ten bars that indicate battery strength. This feature only applies to bikes with the Mastermind TCU, as pictured in this video.

I have the Como 3.0 2022, and I can tell you this is NOT available on my bike..... husband has a COMO 4.0 2022 and he doesn't have this locking/alarm option either. Bike dealer told us the locking system only available on Como 5.0

Since yesterday the turbo lock via the app no longer works. Every time i want to lock the bike I get the following message: • Something went wrong, please try again later. The bicycle is connected to the app, because I can, for example, request how many km I have ridden with the bicycle.. I have already tried the following: • Remove the battery from the bicycle. • Removing the bicycle from the app and then adding the bicycle to the app. However, this does not solve the problem. Bike type: Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Could you please be so kind to inform me how i can solve this problem?

Hi! That category of lock is generally known as a “folding lock” and there are great examples from Kryptonite and other manufacturers. Very compact!

The problem with folding locks is an angle grinder can go through them pretty fast. I bought a Hiplok D1000 for my new Turbo Vado.

I have just brought a turbo levo 2022 but when I go into the mission control app it’s not giving me the option to lock/disable the bike. I’ve registered to my account but nothing seems to help. I do also have registered on the app a turbo levo 2021. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. That’s brilliant just wondered whether you can tell me is it coming out on the levo range. I’ve just brought the expert and the SL. If not you may need to make this clear to the UK dealerships I brought it directly from a specialized shop. And they advised me that both bikes come with this feature. I also spoke to another specialized Maine dealer who told me the same thing. To anyone else Who reeds this post don’t let it put you off this is truly an amazing Bike love it. Well done great work🥰🥰

Lame. Not a "lock" in any sense of the word. Someone could still ride away with your bike even when it is in the locked mode.
