back when i was growing up, nothing had a name - especially clothing styles. now, 30 years later when it's become popular again, EVERYTHING has a name and i love it because it's easier to pinpoint what style exactly you're searching for when you go shopping . and that goes for both clothing and dècor

Filming outside where you're standing was perfect. The wind blowing the leaves and your skirts added a touch of magic. I like your style!

I love this style, I already thought I was making up "bohemian goth" but there is an actual aesthetic, whimsigoth. Now I have more inspriation.

Same! I grew up in the 90s/ was a teen in the 2000s and this kind of “dark boho” was what I lived for but it never had a name. I always wanted to be a “goth” girl but never felt good in black. This is the jewel-toned, celestial, velvety-boho look that I adore.

Also, if it appeals to you, I think it would be really fun to do a version of this where you take us through the whole process. Pick the aesthetic from a hat, take us along on your research a bit, maybe show us if you make something (not a tutorial, just some clips), and then build the outfits so we can see your process. I know it would be a lot of work but I think it'd be so fun 😊

This is definitely something I can do in the future! I know I’m a rambler, so I’m always trying to make videos as short as I can, but if y’all want a video showing more of the process, I would be totally down!

The one that you felt was most costume-y was the only one that I think really hit it. There's an element that feels very textured, layered, or has a drama/boldness that creates depth that this was missing. Not that I feel the outfits were bad, they just read very... neat/restrained (?) in a way that would have made them difficult to read without the context.

Wow I have never heard of this aesthetic but it is throwing me back to my childhood in the 90s! You did such a great job portraying this aesthetic. Hit me right in the nostalgia. I love all the pieces you made, and am surprised I like this aesthetic. Usually I stick to cottagecore/dark academia/prairie chic. But yes. This is a perfect spooky season aesthetic. So impressed you pulled most of these items from your closet!

this style is so distinct and original which makes it hard to introduce when you have no required clothes - I have only one top that could be of use. I'd have to rearrange my whole closet to wear this style. it's a pity, bc I personally adore it!
@GlitterBug2 жыл бұрын
It definitely does have some distinct markers, but it could be a fun challenge to try to piece somethings in your wardrobe together to give the “essence” of the style even if you don’t go full out!

I actually think the white converse look really good with the last outfit! My first instinct would have been to wear black shoes too, but let's be real most of my clothes and shoes are black anyways 😂 I think the white converse give the outfit a little bit of a unique, quirky vibe because they're unexpected! 💕

Me, me, I'm the one who wants to start with criticism:D I love this aesthetic, but I also feel like the main inspiration is how sedentary Europeans see Romani people; so, not how Romani women actually dress, but how we imagine them dressing themselves - ssso, basically stereotypes. I see a lot of Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback of Notre-Dame/ tarots/ hand-reading women in Verdi's La Traviata in this aesthetic. And again, I actually love the silhouette, colour palette, celestial symbolism of this aesthetic, but I do see it as kind of appropriative. Then again I'm not Romani nor I know Romani people in person, so maybe this is all in my head, and I'd love to hear from better informed people about this. Anyway my only worry for now is that if this aesthetic is derivative of Romani culture it should be acknowledged, I'm not implying that the aesthetic must be cancelled or anything, for what I know Romani people are fine with it. Or I'm simply wrong and there's no derivation at all. (Btw English is my second language so I'm not sure if the word is actually "Romani", I've googled it and I've also seen "Roma" being used, point is I hope I haven't been accidentally disrespectful with my choice of words.)
@GlitterBug2 жыл бұрын
Such great points. I think, like with any aesthetic, if it is derivative of a culture or created by a certain community it should be acknowledged! I would also love to hear from a Romani person.

You gotta stop dogging your shoe options, what you have is great! It’s not about brands or exact designs, it’s all about the vibe. In Practical Magic, Sally does her iconic run scene in a pastel floral skirt, black cardi-cami set, and white Keds tennis shoes. Your black boots are FANTASTIC, and would have worked with almost every outfit you put together. The brown ones were great too, and also fit the style quite well. Anyway, you did great! And I was a teenager when the look was first born, and I wanted to dress like that so badly!
@GlitterBug Жыл бұрын
Oh, never fear, I love my shoes, most of them anyways. Some of them, like the black over the knee boots, just have a weird fit for me. Also, sometimes I just think other styles would work better, but I’m happy with what I have too!

Please please stop using the word Bohemian it's exactly like saying oriental to mean Asian it's really not politically correct. It's Romani. Also the work your looking for the spirit Halloween witch dress is called a bat wing sleeve dress and you can get in stores easy. It's a goth look dress a good staple for a goth
