That sticky feeling of zildjian and meinl stick wax (my money is on they’re the same product) is the reason I use Sticky Bumps surfboards wax instead. It’s nice and tacky but not at all “sticky”. That technical product issue aside, stick wax is a must have accessory for me now.

I recently started using the Zildjian Compact Drumstick Wax product and it greatly helped me with a 4-hour gig I had. Let's dig into this "grip enhancer" - what it is, its benefits, and how to apply it to your sticks. You can find the "Medium Tack" Zildjian Wax here: amzn.to/46sVGA1 *If you purchase through the above link, I'll make a tiny commission. That'll make me super happy, as I could buy more drums!*

How do you think these compare with wearing the drum gloves? I've also been wondering if there's really a big difference in feel with drumming shoes. Great video!

I've never worn "proper" drumming gloves. But I have worn gloves from my marching days. I felt that those gloves got in the way of finger motion. Think trying to tie your shoes with gloves on. So the wax should give you move "freedom ".

Smells like coconuts. I’ve been using this wax for several months and I don’t really like it. It rubs off WAY too easily. Leaves a waxy coconut smelling residue on my hands, but the stick is left smooth and slick after several minutes of playing. I find I have to reapply it often. I’m looking for something else.

Mr. Zogs Sex Wax (for surfboards) is cheaper and just as good or better.

Interesting, good advice. I'll have to check it out if I run out of the current wax.
