What a lovely way to spend a sunny winter Sunday afternoon - a vicarious train journey- fabulous. We have a number of heritage railways here in East Anglia, one of the best being the Bure Valley Railway that also has an adjacent walking path. Thanks again Paul for the views, the history and the vision to bring it all together.

A lovely railway journey on a line I'm not familiar with . Thanks for that, Paul!

Thank you - yes this line was the second heritage line that I ever went on (in the mid 1980s when I was living in Cornwall). My daughter went on it many times when she was growing up. It is not a SVR or GWSR, but it has its own charms. Glad you enjoyed it Michael. Paul

Looks a very scenic route, ideally linking the main line with the attractive town of Bodmin. Lets hope that one day, it will extend all the way to Wadebridge .

Thank you Malcolm. Yes, it is a really scenic line, and it would be wonderful to catch a train to Wadebridge again from Bodmin Road. I think the station is still there in Wadebridge. Take care, Paul

Good Afternoon Paul and greetings from Poland Superb video. Lovely to see 47306 still enjoying its working life after 60 years of service. The scenery along this line is beautiful especially with all the autumn courses on display. I hope the short trip into Bodmin didn't cause you too much anxiety as it was very busy. Please thank Nicole for her help and support in making this video

Thank you Michael! Glad you enjoyed it - yes, the Bodmin Diesel Group have done a fabulous job in restoring her - it was in excellent condition. It was a bit busy in Bodmin, but it was good to see people supporting their local town and the park was beautiful. Thanks again! Paul

My heart sings when I see a train corridor, not sure why! What a lovely journey.

Yes, I loved corridor trains - I miss them! Good to be able to travel on them again courtesy of the heritage railways. Thank you Faith. Take care, Paul

This looks like a lovely line and great that it shares a station with the mainline, I thought I recognised the name! Goes through some lovely countryside too.

Another heritage railway that I didn’t know existed! A very pretty run on their branch lines. I was puzzled though by the man in the cab waving his hand out of the window at around the 18min.mark - do you know what, if anything he was signalling? Thanks Paul.
@westcountrywanderingsАй бұрын
Thank you Diana. Yes, there are some more heritage lines that I have still yet to cover, like the Helston Railway and the Plym Valley Railway in this area. I have no idea what all that waving was about either! It happened twice - when the loco was running around at Bodmin Parkway and again at Boscarne Jct. Never seen that happen on any other heritage line. Take care, Paul

Hi Paul, Great video you really cant go wrong in Autumn. Its a really unusual line, with two branches really. I wonder if they will make it down to Wadebridge? You know I was looking over some photos of Bodmin General only the other day. i was looking for photos of the Portishead branch and happened on these. We popped in on our way back from Wadebridge having stayed with my sister and I came away with some good snaps. In fact I was also looking for ones in Bath for you too. I'll see if I can work out how to send them on your FB group. Yesterday I posted a couple of videos that I prepared for the STWWW Steam Toys World Wide Weekend hosted on Tapatalk, the videos are published on youTube as tapatalk doesnt handle them very well. All the best!!

Thank you David. Yes, you can always private message me the photos to my Paul profile on Facebook. I would love to see them if you get chance. Thank you. It is quite an unusual, non-linear line, and odd that there was a seperate Bodmin North Station too - not an ideal arrangement for passengers I would not have thought. Hope all is good with you. Take care, Paul

that was a castle hst set when you were in the carriage doesnt go to london now
@westcountrywanderingsАй бұрын
Yes, you're quite correct! I just saw the GWR green out the corner of my eye as I was looking towards the camera. Only IETs to London now. I think the Castles have stopped doing the Cardiff runs too, and now terminate at Plymouth. They were doing a daily run from PNZ to GCR up until last year. Cheers! Paul

@@westcountrywanderings they still do with the occasional branch line to Newquay if the class 150 has failed

A Castle was running up to NQY just last week, I understand.

We urgently need to stop building on or near old railway lines that potetially vould reopen in future.
