This was kind of a test-video with my new camera, as a talk-video. My apologies to the wrong frame size, I hope I have my settings correctly for the next video.

In this video I'll try to explain a bunch about what therianthropy is.
Therianthropy is the personal and integral identity where one identifies as a non-human, earthen animal on a non-physical level.
Therians are humans who rather feel as if they are (identify as) an animal. Either entirely or mostly. You also got multiple kinds of therians, from polytherians (experiencing polytherianthropy, identifying as multiple animals) to contherians (being constantly shifted on same degree) and suntherian (being constantly shifted on sliding degree) to even non-shifting therians who aren't able to/don't shift. You got psychological therianthropy (identity caused by a psychological matter) or spiritual therianthropy (identity caused by a spiritual matter). What is a therian, what isn't a therian, indicators that might show you are a therian or what questions you have to ask yourself when you're figuring out if you're a therian or not.
I also talk a little bit about otherkin. Both as an umbrella term (identifying as non-human being on a non-physical level) and as a subcategory of that (specificly identifying as a non-human, non-earthen being on a non-physical level). And how therianthropy is a subcategory of that umbrella term. As well do I quiclky mention fictionkin, mythkin and plantkin.
I also clearly wanted to talk in this video, just a little bit, about the history of how the therian community started but Also wanted to clear up the differences between therianthropy and modern therianthopy.
Because the identity 'therianthropy' that we experience is actually called 'modern therianthropy', and not just 'therianthropy'. Therianthropy is used in mythology to talk about humans who're animals, typically humans who're able to transform into an animal like werewolfs. This existed Way before 'modern therianthropy', written down first time recorded in 1901 but they actually think it has been there since the 16th censury and found cave paintings/gravings that might show therianthropy.
Therianthropy is Not the same as modern therianthropy in fact.
But as we grew used to the term 'therianthropy', possible because of it being shorter and we being lazy hha, we now simply call our identity 'therianthropy'.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: By now I have figured out that some of the information given in this video is not completely correct if you look at the history of therianthropy. While all definitions given in this video are correct to the most used definition nowedays in modern therian community.. they're not what they were or what they were supposed to be nor do they fit my personal opinion by that. THERIAN: A therian wasn't meant to be an 'earthen animal'. Originally it was defined by if the being was animalistic and living out of instinct or not. The word, ironically enough, and the community were created by werewolves and dragons after all. Between 1992 and 2015, any instinct driven and animalistic being (even a dragon) was a therian, anything that wasn't but instead had magic, human-like wisdom, structure, languages etc was an otherkin. More info here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q53ReGqlidVqbck SUNTHERIAN: Nowedays this is noted as a 'sliding scale between human and animal', however this is a misunderstanding from the original definition that spoke about 'fluctations of animal mood'. However this is heavily discussed in the community as otherkin and therian originally were created as completely seperated communities so uniting them in such way does not do justice to their history. Instead 'Altherhuman' (an older term as well) would be a better fit umbrella term for otherkin (subterm) and therianthropy (subterm). For about a year I denied that I was a timber wolf because I thought I was being to much of a edge lord so I told my friends I was husky but I was lying to them and myself. So eventually I admiteds that i was a wolf and moved on about 2 years ago.

Wow nice! Yeh I always advice everyone to try to wait atleast 4 months before being 'sure'. Like 4 months of research and self-observation and discovering is really a minimum for me hha. I have friends who did 3 years over finding a type and I know someone who is searching for 15 years but still not sure! :O I myself did a full year+ to discover my dolphin kintype and then a few weeks to come to accept it. The dog theriotype? I just knew that my entire life I guess. Never had to ask myself about that; Just take your time and always rethink every now and then, it's okay to change (as long as it is done with research). After all identity can change. By enviromental changes (moving places), emotional changes (relationship breakup), age (hormones etc), mood (depression) etc etc. Those things can completely change ones personality and identity. Even make it dissapear! Medicines too (prozac and anti depressives are known to make identity change, fade and dissapear by example.) So it is possible that your type just changes. Not because you didn't identify as it, but simply as it litterally changed. :o Goodluck on your journey of self-discovery! (and thanks!)

I'm also afraid it would be taken as absolute truth, while guided meditation isn't meant to 'show the wolf' or let 'the wolf carve its name on the wall' :/ but it's worth a thought!

Sometimes people have difficulties understanding my videos due my accent (English is only my third language) so most of my 'important' videos have english captions by now. This comment is to help anyone who is struggling with finding out if they are a therian^^ A therian is someone who feels as if they ARE an animal, I have concluded I am not a therian after extensive research, I am animal-hearted. An animal hearted person feels a connection and/ feel like family or friends with an animal, they want to be that animal, they admire and look up at that animal, but they do not feel as if they ARE that animal. If you feel the same way just know you are still valid and just because you don’t feel like that animal doesn’t mean you have less of a connection! You can feel as much species dysphoria, and have as much of a connection to an animal as a therian. It’s just a different type of connection.

How do you identify as a human if you don't have a soul/past life of a human? Well therianthropy can both be spiritually as psychologically. Spiritually meaning you belief your therianthropy is caused by having had a past life or soul. And psychologically meaning you believe you had an unconcious copingmechanism (often caused by trauma) or you imprinted on an animal, grew to 'take on' the identity of an animal, brain wiring, complexity of human mind, .. there are so many possibilities. After all, it isn't that you had a past life or a soul of an animal either that you're automaticly a therian. If you have a past life as an animal, you're only a therian if you Also identify as the animal in This life. If you have a soul of an animal, you're only a therian if you Also identify as a whole (not just knowing your soul is animal) as that animal. Identifying as = feeling as if you are. As long as if you feel as if you are an animal, spiritual or psychological doesn't matter, you're a therian :) Does that clear up things?

lots of different therians have different therians to do this. Some reasons may be, but aren't limited to: - representing their animality (one of my reasons as people may think 'that's an animal-person' in some way or another) - representing not feeling free in human society - representing being owned (non-sexually) by a partner or person - representing their theriotype (through prints on collars, tags, keychains,.. this is one of my reasons) - simple fashion / liking the looks of it (one of my reasons) - wanting to make a statement that animal and human don't differ much (by the fact a human could perfectly wear an animal collar by example. Also partly my reason) Some dog therians and domesticated therians feel safer wearing a collar. Simular to wrapping yourself in blankets when sick. This is why many wolf or wild therians are naturally 'scared away' from collars, feeling as if it restricts them. I personally am so used to wearing this collar, that I feel cold, naked, wrong, having an ugly long neck,..without. my collar also has a lot of meaningful tags gifted from friends all over the world, my partner, .. so it geerally means a lot to me. Sorta like someone hanging a goodluck keychain on their pants or keeping a picture of their mother in their pockets. hope that answered the question?

I was always around cats so I learned alot of their behaviours and used to play with them and walk on all fours with them as a kid but I don't feel connected to cat or like I personally identify as a cat. Very very stupid question from a mindless 12 year old. Umm ok so from watching the video* I feel like I may ( or may not ) be a c'linker ( copinglink- hope I spelled that right.. ) I chose to have an identity of a wolf because I'm too much of a canis lupus lover and I just have this strong connection with canines and dogs that I can't really explain too well- :') I did have a horrible childhood so far ( mainly because of my abusive adoptive father pgrtffhghrsz- ) so it's partially because of that. No, a furry is a person who is a fan of anthropormorphic animals. Think of lion king, mickey mouse and garfield. Animals with human charactristics such as moving eyebrows, clothes and speech. Furriess typically have a fursona, which is a fantasy made-up character. They enjoy having or making art, music or items of these and sometimes will dress up and roleplay as them (fursuiting) This is a fandom, hobby, choise. Therians are Non of the above. Therians are humans who have non-human experiences such as instincts, behaviours and identities. They do not want to be animals and (usually) do not pretend to be animals. It is not a choise nor a conciously done activity. Many experience species dysphoria, which is a very distressing experience and many feel like they were born with this animalisticness (that we call therianthropy) Lots of furries are therians and lots of therians are furries. But they aren’t the same thing.

Your subjective opinion is taking the best or you, can’t you see that you are using your opinion with NO knowledge backing it as “the truth”? We are explaining our experiences, we don’t know Where they come from. There might be a link to neurodiversity and there might be a link to mental issues (so that this is a result of childhood trauma for example) and there might be a direct link to autism or copingmechanisms, there might be a link to psychologically being wired different from birth due being born with an alternate bodymap and so experiencing phantom limbs that are not human since a really early age etc etc… heck a lot of therians think its a mental illness. We do NOT try to decide what is “truth”, like you. We are just stating out experiences and what we know about them. It’s not up to you to tell me “you are not”, you’d be no better than a transphobe telling a transgender person “you don’t feel like a boy, you just like toycars and army clothes” YES we do have animalistic instincs. We have instinctual behaviours, personalities, mannerisms,.. that are not typically human. NO we really don’t “play a character”, unlike furries, therians most often don’t want to be an animal. And don’t play pretend. We DO have phantom limbs of animals, known experience of amputees or people born without a limb. We DO have species dysphoria, an almost-official term that is still up in discussion with professionals. But was not added to the official list (yet) so the wikipedia page was deleted: web.archive.org/web/20190516230400/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species_dysphoria Species dysphoria is used within our circle instead of body dysphoria because most of us don’t have dysphoria with their physical body. Instead we have dysphoria by the mere fact that we are not animals, that out features are shaped differently than that of our species, that we cannot run or make the vocals of our species and dysphoria from the social construct that “humanity” is. It reaches Way beyond body dysphoria. Tho yes, some might experience dysphoria. Dysphoria is also a term that reaches further than its most used or official terms?? So it’s not up to you to decide with what a person feels unhappiness/distress/uneasyness? We DO, with our specias. *note: far from all therians experience species dysphoria. Ik fact, only a small percentage does. This omdat most of us ENJOY being a human (or atleast can live with it or don’t care). We are glad of our abilities and don’t necessarily feel a desire to actually be an animal physically. Having a “brain” for dysphoria is just a blatant stupid lie tho.. do you think people who have a sporty body have a different brain than people who are “fat”? That you need a different brain to feel body dysphoria? Do you think the person with post menstrual dysphoria or social dysphoria has a different brain ?? No.. this has nothing to do with brains. Therians don’t believe they have animal brains, ever. Therians also don’t think or claim they are animals (in the litteral sense) As I litterally say: therians are HUMANS who FEEL like they are an animal on some level (that isn’t physical) “Feel like” indicated “having experiences of” in this opinion.
