It’s a ’65 Chevy Chevelle with custom headlight buckets from a ‘59 Impala and taillights from ‘65 Pontiac Bonneville or Catalina, Very Nice Custom Car!

Looks an awful lot like a 64-65 Chevelle that's been customized with things like 65 Pontiac parking lamps, maybe 61-62 Pontiac tail light lenses, the rear bumpers from a 59 Buick, the hood center looks to be from a 63-64 Cadillac, '59 Chevy headlight surrounds, a custom fabricated top (that's on an INGENIOUS mechanism), and a custom Continental kit... It's absolutely KOOL... Although I'd extend the Connie kit about five inches, so that the spare tire would lean forward toward the trunk lid a little bit... It looks kind of broken to me with the tire leaning backwards. Otherwise, it's absolutely a beautiful car!

At first glance a '65 Malibu or '66 AMC Rebel...I went with Malibu when I saw the dash board.

I was going to say highly, but subtly, modified Buick. But, everyone else is saying Chevelle, Impala, or Malibu, which is reasonable. They probably know better than I. Either way, it's clearly GM. And, outside of the convertible roof setup, this looks like it could be a concept car from the late 50's, to show what the mid-60's could bring, stylistically. The branding is cool; along with the patent number, it's almost like someone was trying to start a small car company, along the lines of Stutz (Bearcat or Blackhawk ), Excalibur (Phaeton or SS) , or Dunham Coach (Caballista or Corvorado). Perhaps they got a prototype built, complete with custom molded emblems and hood ornamentation, but failed to find investors, so they cut their losses, sold the car, and moved on. The only thing, really, that keeps this from looking like a pristine example of the 60's, is the modern, low profile tires. Period correct white walls, with period correct rim sizing (staying with the chrome spokes, obviously)would really set this car off, and make it look super sexy. Oh, and a chrome bezel around the taillights; the lack of chrome treatment on the taillights makes the car look unfinished, which is a shame, because a lot of work was put into this car. It's too bad that work stopped before the taillights were properly dressed. Back to the original question of "What is it?" What does the title say that is? The VIN plate should have some insight into what the car may be, assuming that it's still there. Perhaps the frame and engine have ID stampings that could provide some insight.

definitely looks like a '64 Chevelle or Malibu with custom everything. Not sure what the grill is from...Tailights look '64 Pontiac. I would check for documentation under the back seat

@@AnarchylabzI'd bet that it was a 2 door hardtop that was either rolled over and wrecked (then the roof was cut off) or it was a regular convertible to begin with that was damaged beyond repair, and someone thought up that ingenious mechanism for the Carson style roof for it... I'd have to see how the roof clamps to the top the windshield to be certain. Cheers!
