Psykers need, no, deserve, a proper place in the guard. Countless stories and campaigns involve the heavy use of sanctioned psykers and it’s a silly general who doesn’t consider options against all types of threats.

I've run 4 games of 10th Edition so far, and in 3 of them I ran 3 Primaris Pskyers. As long as I have Infantry blobs to support 3 I'm taking 3. Also since he is a multi-wound character and gets hit by 3 mortal wounds, if he is attached to the same unit as a Command Squad he gets a 6+ feel no pain against all 3 of those wounds!

you could add them to a krig blob, though the two feel no pains kinda make themselves redundant a bit, though one thing I've been thinking about is the primaris psyker gets a 4+ feel no pain against psychic attacks right? both witchfires count as Psychic, so theoretically they should be able to survive thier attack backfiring at least once. I'm pretty sure it works this way since the death korps marshal has a fairly similar ability and they benefit from thier own feel no pain.

So I did the unkillable death korps and cannnn confirm it’s superrrr good. And my opponent was playing custodes and on turn 2 he charged my squad with spear guard and a blade champion. Let’s just say my 20 man death korps with field marshal and Psyker made it until battle round 3 so they held the line pretty good and I even killed two spear guard somehow in the fight phase with the psyker and marshal

uhhh the psyker 4+ invuln is only for shooting...i find it hard to believe that custodes guard couldnt rinse your DK squad unless you were playing them with a 4+ invuln in melee as well...

Add a primaris psyker to a 5 man scion squad and a scion command all in a taurox prime and have them assault an objective held by the enemy… re roll all hits and wounds it very tidy on the Psyker’s attacks

You can shoot other hazardous weapons with the same unit....like plasmaguns or plasmapistols. The hazardous test is taken for all models who used such a weapon....so you can let a plasmatrooper die in his stead...if its Krieg, you may bring the plasmatrooper back too

Not really heretic... the God-Emperor set up the Imperium to function the way it's supposed to be since that funnels all the worship & souls to the Star Child which will be used as the fuel during His apotheosis into the Star Father when He finally allows Himself to die. Pyskers are a major problem so they need to be brutally oppressed to keep them from ravaging every world in the Imperium as they emerge

Something I'm still not 100% on with the psyker is how Hazardous works when the unit he is with also contains plasma weapons. My reading seems to suggest that you roll as a group and then assign who fails and is removed/suffers mortals, which would substantially increase his survivability when using the bigger attack. Am I wrong?

That is correct, you can use plasmaguns as psychic heatsinks.

@@MrPoopoopants It was a genuine question. I haven't played since 4th edition when the 'gets hot' was on a to-hit roll of a 1, making it clear who took the wound. Here, from reading it, it seemed like you just rolled together and I was just checking.

As it stands with the current hazardous rule after the whole unit is finished shooting you roll one dice for each hazardous weapon fired, you wouldn’t know who failed. As it currently stands though the RAW means than even if a plasma gun didn’t even shoot and only the psyker did you could still choose the plasma dude to die. I would expect a look for doing that but I imagine it will be standard practice unless it’s faq’d.

I have always loved my psykers and when wyrdvane psykers were removed I had to begrudgingly use them as vox casters in my units, and the frankly pointless astropath and attaches squad is a major let down. But the primarus psyker has been a staple from my very first game of 10th and I don't leave home without them, they add to much to my Kriegers who are already bristling with special weapons and durability they just go to the next level. My army is pure infantry also so I need blocks that won't die easy to hold the line.

Can you take a marshal + Psyker? I thought it was only a command squad and the single leader

@@bodhisitter Normally yes, but some units have a line that allows multiple leaders. I believe guard battleline can run any 2. GSC battleline can run any leader plus a magus, primus, or nexos, etc.

It's good. Also remember that as you take casualties and you order them to take aim, they then hit on 2s, which is insane for guardsmen.

Interesting. Seem a psyker plus a marshal is a lot more tank then a command squad (altho medic still give 6+) but no ogryn bodyguard and a little less firepower...40 points cheaper tho hmmm...

They're more powerful than Eldar psykers. The same with many elements compared with Eldar. Despite the nerf to Eldar, RAW this army will be awesome. Make sure you add Gaunt to the 3 units of mortar support weapons.

Question: The primaris psyker gets a 4+ feel no pain against Psychic attacks right? since both witchfires count as psychic would that not mean the focused witchfire is a lot more survivable? statistically if this works you'll block 50% of the wounds, meaning your psyker will survive on 1-2 wounds the majority of the time, I'm not sure how mortal wounds and feel no pains interact though

You can't take this guy with Krieg Marshal. One of the two leaders must be Platoon Command Squad

Just reading the rules, does it say take a test during oppenents shooting phase and you have an invulnerable until the end of the phase? Ie only invul during opponents shooting phase? Means no invul for combat or overwatch? Still very good but not sure if im reading correct

I still hate the look of the "new" model for the Primaris Psyker its just so ugly. I am very glad i still have a few of the old school metal ones. So many newer models just look so goofy i miss the gritty looking models
