Contrary to popular opinion, the planet Mars is not habitable for human beings like ourselves. We just have to accept the fact that singular events occurred for our own planet to be hospitable for living things such as ourselves. Were it not for our star to form in the Goldilocks arena, thousands of meteorites hitting the planet, carrying water crystals within, a few nice volcanoes that warmed the planet, creating a vast ocean of water that eventually led to an atmosphere that not only prevents the sun’s radiation from killing us and thus preventing a greenhouse effect from occurring, we would not even be here. And perhaps one of the more important events that is often overlooked, is the meteorite that crashed into the Earth, and killed off the reptilian kingdom to such and effect that it allowed for the mammalian population, and we are of this group to thrive. All of these singular events happened over a 4.5 billion year time table. None of these singular events ever happened on Mars to an extent that it can be an earthlike planet. We are probably alone and the distances to other singular Earth-like planets is prohibitively too far for us to communicate with. It is a sobering fact, but all of us should take heart that we have won the “lottery” and are alive to witness the breathtaking Universe we find ourselves in!

Mars may not be habitable for humans but that doesn’t mean it isn’t habitable for something else . It is the height of human arrogance to think we are so special in this giant universe
