Time is a funny thing. Tonight the instructor wasn't feeling well so asked me to take over. My first proper class that I ever taught. The feedback afterward was, if I may, triumphant. I'm proud of myself for rising to the occasion and staying chill, remembering everything. But I barely remember it at all. I kinda regret that, but then if I was grasping onto memories I wouldn't have been as there but not there as I was. I remember one or two moments of "I wonder how long this is taking" but it was gone by the next breath. By the time I was done, we had 15 minutes left to do cooldowns and a bit of meditation. But what I did in that 35 minutes or so? Pure flow state. I can now say I've achieved that feeling of perfect presence three times in my life, all three while doing tai chi. I think after all this time I'm starting to get it :3

We have constructed the concept that we call time to deal with "change". Things change so what they were, is the past, and what they might be is the future. It's convenient, and helps us deal with our physical life. There is only the "future" moving to the "past". And this is why we can never be in the "now". (Despite some major players basing their whole careers on this very thing 😊) Enjoying you videos, great stuff

Makes me think of how you've grown and found yourself after your "time" in China. I'm always returning to your thoughts and videos when I need to "talk" to someone about these questions of life. I thank you for the effort and care you put in your videos, so as an unknown friend across the internet. :)

The timing of this lesson is uncanny. I needed your reminder so thank you kindly for sharing your time, wisdom, and effort. As I attempt to cultivate balance in my life, time anxiety steps in and halts my forward motion. Though, I find it is much easier to find flow without the presence of social media. I quit a while back and agree that the addictive quality pushed by big tech leaves us with a constant, unquenchable sense of urgency and desire. Thank you for your wisdom and speaking on this topic.

Love this discussion George! Really appreciate your take on time. I often feel quite stretched for time or worried about not having enough and feeling like I've already lost future time which is so detrimental to my current well being. Grateful for your mention of flow. I've been feeling a bit more od that lately. Worrying less about what I should be doing and just doing what feels right. Namaste 🙏🏻

It's interesting to first grocc the notion that time is no quanta but a continuum. And then for that realisation and sense to line up against our sense of time bound self. I'd dare say there's even Siddhi like experiences that come from the investigation of our time concept and experience alone. Always great to hear you share your wisdom.

I too feel like there is not enough time because climate change is bearing down on us and I just dont know how many good years we have left. Its scary but have to remind myself to be in the moment.

having been to placement interviews and attending group assessments, where people emphasise on time management and so on, with me and my time blindness, it felt that they were all onto just rushing things, churning out results/ products, but negating the essence, the why of it all, and obviously deemed me unfit for their company values and I didn't get the position(s), perhaps it's but incompatibility, but then it's difficult in life to be in such environment that doesn't value time like the masses, a detachment from their reality

I don't know if anyone can tell me this. I have been doing meditation for some 10years, I normally do 1 hour in the morning before breakfast and 1 hour in the evening before bed. last week, I did an morning meditation. I did it only Tuesday, I'm sure of it. Then when I opened my Eyes, it was Wednesday morning. I know that I wasn't sleeping and I was doing sitting formal meditation, so it was obvious that I wasn't sleeping. I lost one day instead of 1 hours. because I was living alone in my own place. so nobody knew. thanks for sharing.

This is a great talk! Personal nature shouldn't be overlooked. I plan on having a video up in the near future about Taoism and Body Modification under the same premise of nature of self. So it's really cool that the concept is in the general thought space.

I think there are only three things that consistently exist naturally. Those are Tao (an homogenous circular Universe), electrons (that once formed matter but now bond with each other without creating matter because Tao is too large), and time. When the electrons bond they create a wave (frequency) and our Tao, therefore us, are formed by the particles within that wave. I think our brain is their very first illusion and it represents the network of bonded electrons. The brain then begins to make connections and writes into existence this Tao.

I guess that is structuring, which is helpful and comforting, .. I used to have that, now I just structure in different ways - if you miss it, maybe make your own structures of things that are meaningful - all in the flow of time

Also the churchbells did that to help their esotericists mark the planetary hours and influences. Magic is in part the origin of this notion of rushed and mathematically quantified time.
