Hi Matthijs, I would like to share my story. I am a mover (balett, yoga, slackline, acroyoga). I teach movement (minimal movement = yoga+mobility) I have a master in psychology (but never worked as a psychologist). I had a PTSD. I started a body oriented therapy. I started body oriented therapy, beause I had the feeling that reading a lot in the topic and having just talking session with a regular psychotherapist doesn't realy help after a certain point. Doesn't help with my "overreacting" body responses. So I started body oriented therapy. On the that therapy we had a mevement/dance session where the first instruction was "Follow your body, just do what feels good". So I did that. Since I am a mover and also teach movement, explored different movements I belive I have a good "body knowledge". I liked the excercise, I was in a good mood, it was a nice day I didn't expect anything strange to happen. I did that excercise and there was a "body choreography" instructed by my own body which I followed. It was on the ground. At a certain moment my feet started shaking. I let that shake happen because from Levine book I know that this is good. So I didn't try to control it (however I knew I could stop the shake, but I didn't want to). I don't want to describe the whole movents I did cause it would be too long. So my feet started to share more and more shake. I didn't want to stop and somehow that shake when UP on my body and I think reached my diaphragm. And than at the point of my diaphragm something super strange happened. My diaphragm and lungs pressed out "all" air and I made 3 extreamly loud shouts/screams. It sounded super scary form the outside. It was totally unintencional, I would NEVER scream like this...very very loud. After I had some full body shake, cry and than all stopped. I was like WFT WOW what was this???????? It was so strange, the strangest experience in my whole life. For me it felt like I was reliving my birth (?). The only association I had than was a baby first 3 crys after birth. My birth was in a way traumatic, but I never think too much about it. The whole experience was NOT SCARY from the inside. When the shake reached my diaphragm than there was a switch: I totally lost my consiuos control as if my "self" or "ego" would sent aside for 5 seconds and something much deeper, a deeper "self" would come out. I am not sure, but I think I relived my birth, but not sure exactly. I learnt about self and ego at the university, but to be honest I never deeply understood how to unserstand those words. But it was amazing experience, never ever happened anything so strange with me in my whole life. What is interesting after I felt like my body had a full RESET, like a computer. All program booted EXCEPT anxiety. Situations which would make me mad/anxious doesn't bother me at all. It feels like I got a more stabile nervous system back. Like as if the trouma which was totally stucked in my body just left my body. My good mood is back, motivation. Before I always felt my internal organs overreact on any stressor (my guts). Now nothing. Before the experience I only read Levine book and know about the shake as a response of the body after stress. I was awaire that something like TRE exist, but I didn't know too much about it, never saw any excercise and I totally didn't know who Berceli was. BUT somehow I managed to make very similar movements than what TRE has, which is purly amazing. My own body guided to get to t his experience. Like I always know that OUR BODY is AMAZING, but this special most beautiful experience prooved this again. I also had a kind of "dissociation" state in my mind (for long years), it was so difficult to concentrate (speciall in my work) and after this experience it changed as well. PURLY AMAZING. I am not obsessed with this method, I want to know everything, learn everything, read everything. I don't know how, but it is WORKING! Hope my comment can help to someone. :-)

This sounds amazing...! I have experienced glimpses of that sort of relief through shaking, which did include lots of 'weird', involuntary reactions - but after reading that, I'm feeling I want to go deeper, as there's still so much to release/integrate! All I'm thinking about right now is where to find some space in which I could allow these kinds of spontaneous reactions to surface... It's not something I necessarily want to do in a small apartment with the neighbours around :)

@@georgesonm1774 Haha, yes. I guess if it would happen in my home someone would call the police, cause it was really scary 😀. So this whole experience is amazing. I still do excercise which makes my body tremor and they really help to regulate my nervous system specially if there are big stressors. There are specific movements which I found somehow can start deeper "emotional" reactions. Movements around neck and head. It is all extremely interesting, but I would be so happy to be able to give explanation why exactly they are working, what exactly is happening in the body. I honestly also so extremely curious how my cathartic experience can be explained, but I am not sure I will find the answer for sure.

I got hinted to TRE last week after struggeling with huge trauma in my childhood. I've been seeing therapists, anger management, psychiatry etc. I'm convinced that I no longer can be cured and my closest family is suffering under my outbreaks. I've been in a pattern for over 50 years and when somebody scares me suddenly I light up and explode as an atomic bom... Currently I'm using anti depression medicine just to give everybody around me a brake. I can't believe that this could maybe release some f the traumatic stress that has been build up in the biggest part of my life. Tell me there are still possibilities . Greetings from a Dutch guy living abroad.

1.It’s all built in us, it’s natural (dealing with stress) 2. The best teachings/teachers integrate body and the psychic - that’s why I can’t carry on teaching “just” exercise. Trauma was just stress for me, now it’s something fascinating!! Thank you both! 👌🏻👌🏻😀

I´ve noticed i do it naturally when going out of a position to release the muscle. A known Sistema excercise is to tension the body in stages when you follow the breath inhalation or exhalation to learn when/where your body is tensed. This Vagus nerve stuff is interesting. I´m sure it can help people stuck on Orange/Red. Shaking is also very common in Qigong.

Excellent conversation !!, thanks a lot for sharing. Need your suggestions please. I have followed all the exercise steps and still don't get tremors. 1. Assume body takes a few days to adjust ? Is it that I should get tremors a few days later ? 2. Do you think, increasing exercise duration to cause more fatigue should help ? 3. Shall I try increasing exercise routine twice in a day until tremors are induced ?
