With the inclusion of Unicorn and it's space magic shenanigans, I just thought that UC has split into 3 major time lines; The original F91 to victory. the NT where more space magic shenanigans will happen and may eventually lead to G-Recongista. And the probability to reach Correct Century. or maybe Victory will someday lead to Correct Century.

What's interesting to me about the spoiler thing is that... getting caught up n the details of "how does this work" is completley ignoring the message of "humanity has an endless cycle of violence we need to break from" and that is literally the point, so the people who lose themselves trying to connect the timeline are literally falling into the mistakes the series warns about. And I kinda like it. also the mustache rules. Turn A's weird design of "what if we took the Gundam and reversed or flipped upside down all of its standard design elements, like someone put it together wrong as a joke" is extremely good.

Ok, so I haven’t seen Turn A, and I don’t know how it ends, but wouldn’t that imply 00 is the end of it all. I mean the movie unites everyone and when you look into the mobile suits that exist at the end of the movie, they aren’t given weapons, and it’s implied there is a universal peace to the point where deep-space exploration can occur.

@@minecraftWithDanielD Let me give you a simple, but most logical explanation. Consider every Gundam series BEFORE Turn A's release and series with reference to UC as prequel to Correct Century. Every single Gundam series after Turn A's release that doesn't mention UC are completely different timeline, nothing to do with both UC and CC. You must remember that Tomino make Turn A as a celebration of it's 20+ years anniversary. Therefore, he created Turn A with the sole purpose of it being the sequel of all previous Gundam series (UC, AW, FC, and AC). He never intended to have any Gundam series after Turn A that doesn't mention UC to be part of CC, because it didn't make sense to do so and it'll only devalues the stories and originalities of other Gundam series.

Pros of War: - Accelerated technological development in some areas. - If you're really lucky, you can completely overthrow a fascist government. Turn A is a fantastic gundam series, and a great endcap for the franchise as a whole, since its further been elaborated that instead of it being ”civilizations rising and falling” or like the Unicorn author Fukui miscontrudes ”the turn A always appears at the end of each timeline” the big explanation is as simple in that the moonlight butterfly when activated at the height of the Dark History Turn A’s power, merged all the universes into one. This is why technology from all timelines is found here and there, and why even in G-reco lots of cues and technology is seen from the series that followed Turn A. Look at even the G-self and you’ll see its shield and wing pack reminiscent of the Strike from Seed.

The way I see the whole timeline issue is this: There are TWO versions of Turn A Gundam. There's the one that we saw, and the one that is actually canon to the Universal Century that we didn't see. Basically the Turn A Gundam we saw on screen IS it's own self-contained series, but the same events ARE canon to the Universal/Reguild Centuries; just that the references to Gundam series that couldn't have happened in the UC universe are excised from the Dark History. Basically it's broad strokes canon.

there was a short in a recent blu ray release of a Gundam series that explains that the Turn A itself resets civilisation every 10,000 years or so, completely resetting humanity's progression which explains how the other Gundam timelines happen before Turn A

Light of Life Chronicle UC is not canon. It's literally created as a fanservice and celebration of 45 years of Gundam franchaise. It's not meant to be taken seriously. I personally like to think Turn A Gundam is set far after the Universal Century and Regild Century, strictly! But the technology was so advanced for the people in the universe, particularly the spacenoids, had the capacity to view alternate timelines, document their history, and even copy technology from them. Like the nanotech from the Dark Gundam used in the Turn A suit itself or the blueprints seen when Syd stole records from the Dark History for Guin. It's also my favorite series by far, so I'm biased about my headcanon being the most correct.

And the mobile suit museum in G Reco has old UC suits in it, so I made the connection for myself. The space elevator in G Reco is also implied to be the Zacktraeger in Turn A as well. Or at least that's how I view it. Besides, I started my comment with "personally" for a reason. I don't care what the canon is on some website or what people have to say during a panel at Anime Expo. I go by what I see in the shows themselves and deduce how the timeline fits for own enjoyment. In my mind, anything other than UC, RC, or CC does not take place in a linear set of events but rather their own, proper alternate dimensions. It's not outside the realm of possibility to come up with tech that lets the user see into alternate dimensions and take information from them, even full schematics for mobile suits. I think if the people in Turn A could come up with a Gundam powered by a black hole, they certainly can dimension hop. Also, canon doesn't really matter to me, I just find enjoyment in connecting the Gundam universes/dimensions together in a way I think they make sense.

My take on Turn-A has always been that it's at the end of SOME timeline. Which one... well, it doesn't entirely matter. I personally take it to be after the Universal Century plus After Colony (because I like the theory that Corin was driven to madness by dealing with the Wing Zero), but what matters is that it's the iteration of the cycle of war and violence that gets to look back and break that cycle.

As a fan of seed and seed destiny. Im ready for the video! I'm not the toxic fan and I know it's all of its flaws (lots of them). I'm just disappointed it, waste of potential. Overall Turn A show is honestly interesting shows to watch the mech is awkward design and yet quite refreshing, the story is itself is good but some part of it's well you can tell that only Tomino can understand it that or my small brain couldn't understand what the message is. Although I agree why they put Gundam wing in the middle of the fight, I think that Tomino way of saying that he accepts other Gundam timeline.

here's my theory about the timeline shenanigan's: it's like Zelda, where one event pivoted out into so many different directions. While Zelda had 3 branches, Gundam has dozens, and then eventually all converge into a singular point: Turn A. as for the UC Century connection, i think that after the last entry canonically, Ring, the events of After War X happened, and after centuries of rebuilding led to the events of Turn A, hence its Victorian look, which in turn led to either Reconquista in G or 00, or both in that order. and if that be the case, why would 00 be last? Aliens..

On practical and lore terms... it requires "Crisis on infinite earths"-type shenanigans that make it a hustle to really nail down and explain, and such things honestly don't really work in practice (Just look at Kamen Rider Decade) I would rather leave 00, G, IBO and such alone and keep the timeline as UC, Correct and Regilid Century in that order

This is also a universe where psychics exist and can manipulate space/time, as well as speak to the spirits of the dead, so conventional wisdom is already out the window. Regardless of how illogical it may be to apply, all of the alternate universes, including SEED, 00, G, IBO, etc are included in the dark history. So at some point their technology was eliminated and their timelines assimilated. Also, the official stance by Sunrise and Bandai state that Reguild happens before Correct Century.

Reguild Century takes place directly after the Universal Century. This is explicitly stated by multiple people in-universe that the previous era was called the Universal Century, not the Correct Century. The statues in the Capitol City depicting the mobile suits of the previous era are all UC mobile suits, there's no Turns or Moonrace mobile suits. It is stated in universe that the previous era ended in an food shortage crisis, essentially the plot of G-Saviour, the canonical end of the Universal Century. The "G-Reco takes place after Turn A Gundam" thing was a shitty, poorly thought out retcon by Tomino in an interview after G-Reco had aired because he didn't want the happy ending he'd written for the characters in G-Reco to be tainted by Turn-A's Dark History. After it was pointed out that this change not only contradicts what was explicitedly set out in G-Reco, but also takes a major 5-alarm shit all over Turn A's themes of breaking the cycle of war and violence, Tomino undid the retcon.

This ended up being perhaps my favorite Tomino work. While it still has some of the standard Tomino problems, I feel like the show is able to work in spite of them, though some of the characters can still be incredibly grating and inconsistent. It had some nice atmosphere and a really distinct Sci-Fi feel in a lot of it's mechanical designs. Though one of my main gripes with it is just how a lot of the conflict just feels incredibly forced, like they had some "battle per episode" quota they had to fill. Several characters just acts like complete idiots just to force more conflict. The show was generally at it's best when it didn't try to shoehorn in a battle around every corner. Also, R.I.P. Syd Mead, creator of some of the most iconic and interesting suits in the series.

The reveal you mentioned at the end of the video reminds me of the ultimate fate of earth in Babylon 5, where (spoilers) humanity becomes embroiled in a civil war and nukes themselves back to the middle ages, with the events of the series prior becoming nothing more than myths and legends understood by only a few to be true.

The other thing that Turn A does is show that even if War is bad, that people being prepared to defend themselves and protecting those you love and care for is expected. As someone is always going to be vying for war somehow, you might not start it, you may not be on either conflicting side, but you more than likely will have to take action to keep your loved ones safe. It's the one use of violence that it doesn't put down; that of someone defending themselves and others. Which has been a problem that a lot of Gundam has had an issue with (well just War Is Bad in general as a message, cause Gundam) as a whole.

Turn A wasn't my first Gundam series, but it was the first one that I managed to watch from beginning to end in order (including movies). It has absolutely been my favorite, though G-Witch is really trying hard to supplant it. I don't have much difficulty with the consolidation of the timeline. While we might not know the actual sequence of previous events, it's probably safe to assume there was some sort of apocalypse between each timeline. Because humanity, and war.

Late to the party; but anyways, I've come to view the CC timeline as the resulting timeline after a converging of the other timelines that are found within the Dark History. In my mind there's absolutely room for 3 prequel series. 1 to set the stage for the converging event in each timeline. Another to show the ensuing chaos between surviving factions immediately after the converging. And the final one to flesh out the creation of Turn A and Turn X as well as their first war.

i thought turn A was the most beautiful series. but wasnt there something that suggested that Turn A was made of nanomachines, and when using the moonlight butterfly it spread them all over the earth to restore it, and some people stayed on earth, while the moon people slept for set peroids of time and would awaken in periods to see how the earth was doing rebuilding wise? which made me think G Reconguista happened before Turn A, never considered after.

Turn A is significantly better than Reconquista in G. It's slow, but the characters are likable and their changes are through growth and not at random.

Personally loved Turn A, though the series is an acquired taste. I know for a fact the chilled pace is not for every mecha fan out there, and that the MS designs are even more radical than G Gundam's mobile fighters (and G Gundam had a windmill, fish, schoolgirl, and a fusion American stereotype for mecha designs...let that sink in). That said, it is that chilled pace and overall true attempt at its anti-war stance that I liked. Characters were pretty well fleshed out. Even Loran, the idealist, I thought was handled the best in this series compared to other idealist types, who were either useless or hypocrites. Loran would much prefer for Earth and Moon to settle peacefully and not have to wage war, but he's not so blind to his ideals that he wouldn't fight. Love Romi Park as his seiyuu. Also, loved how certain Gundam themes were flipped on its head. Earth is usually the one with more power in previous series, and the spacenoids are typically the rebels fighting to be their own people. Now, it's Earth that lacks power, figuratively and literally, and the Moonrace truly has all the power and tech. And this time, the spacenoids want to return to Earth. And then there's the soundtrack. Heard Moon the first time, fell in love with the song, the listened to Tsuki no Mayu. Loved almost every version of Moon ever since. Then discovered the rest of the soundtracks. Was already a Yoko Kanno fan before when I discovered her work on Escaflowne and Macross Plus. Her work on Turn A convinced me to finally watch the series. So, yeah, I don't see this series as being for everyone. But you know what, it's a good series regardless.

Turn A is why X isn't my favourite and I just love it. The animation and sound design is top notch and it really is one of the few mecha anime that actually make the mech feel huge and weighty. I am also a sucker for tropes like ancient highly advanced tech and I absolutely love the integration between early industrial age and highly advanced tech, it's amazing to see dreadnought battleships alongside Mecha and it's really fun to see how Earth starts trying to reverse engineer the mobile suits and massively accelerate their own technological development in the process. Timeline wise I tend to see it as only being after UC and the way I see it is that at this point humans have colonized not just space but much of the galaxy but Earth got completely reset. I also just love the Turn A, it is ancient and extremely powerful and that's something I love, plus nano swarm as an ultimate weapon is a great idea and it looks beautiful. I think Syd Mead added the right amount of weirdness to the design where you definitely see it as a Gundam but clearly one that is incredibly far removed from what we're familiar with.

I feel like if i knew that Turn A was primarily a character driven story, and not really too much like original or Z... I think I would have kept my expectations in check and would have probably enjoyed it more the first round.

I think what was most effective about turn A's messaging was tht there was less... wow giant robot, int he sense that they were front and center but not in the same way as other series. I didnt want to buy gunpla.
