It can be difficult to recognize what is valid vs. invalid reasoning. Here you'll learn how to identify deductive arguments as valid or invalid-the measure of quality of deductive reasoning.
Deductive validity is a difficult concept. And invalid arguments can seem convincing. So pay careful attention! Deciding whether an argument is valid vs. invalid is an essential skill in logic, critical thinking, philosophy... and everyday life.

3:41-5:03-So does this mean that valid arguments/ logic are no guarantee to arriving at truth? You need the claims to be true.

Exactly. Valid reasoning is no guarantee that you are arriving at truth. More is needed. You have to be reasoning validly _about true claims._ Very often, when there is disagreement, it's not that one side or the other is making a mistake in reasoning. It's that the two sides disagree about _which claims are true._

Wow amazing million thanks. I had to watch twice to understand deeply. The first attempt is kind of vague to me

excellent video. I still have a question though, when you define validity as it being impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion false. How exactly are you defining true here? because it can't be in relation to reality.

Interesting question! But you don't have to define truth in order to define validity, otherwise you run into _definitional regress_ where every word used in a definition must itself be defined by other words, but those words also require definitions, which require more words, and thus more definitions, and so on forever in an infinite regress. But if you have questions about truth and its relation to reality, try my video on objective truth: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXuQYYyAlNeJl8k

Is it safe to state "bobcats have short stubby tails" as truth? An opinion is a judgment, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive, rather than facts, which are true statements. Maybe, "bobcats have tails" is truth. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You're right that someone might ask, "What counts as _short_ ?" or "What counts as _stubby_ ?" But that's just a matter of clarifying our terms. Once our terms are clear, there is nothing wrong with calling, "Bobcats have short, stubby tails" a straight up truth. By the way, the issue you're picking up on is called _vagueness_ and it pops up as a problem all over the place in philosophy. So good catch. (But it's not a serious problem in this particular case.)
