Shit I didn't mean to write a huge wall. TLDR. Players are tired due to lack availability of the teams rotation players. The high line and constant press for 90 minutes twice a week has drained the players. Specifically Lewa, the backline, and Yamal. The problem is actually really simple. Barca was good in the first 1/3 of the season because it was after the summer break. And a lot of the players were well rested and ready for the new season. The system requires good fitness levels but also the players need to be there mentally as well and fatigue is not something that is limited to how players feel physically its also how they feel mentally. Whether they're getting mentally drained from having to be extremely focused for 90 minutes in high intensity games every 3-4 days. Unfortuantely my club can't make the required signings due to the FFP in La Liga where even if they get the money to sign players via transfer fee they then need to fit those players under La Ligas strict FFP rules for wage management. Barca isn't the only team struggling with these FFP rules they're just the only big name struggling with them to this extent. Atleti Didn't spend a lot of money for years leading up to this last summer window. Real sign players on a free along with one big signing a summer. (Endrick this year Jude last) Barca's problem is the enormity of Frenkies wages due to deferred payments from covid along with a couple other players. Barca probably come out of the christmas break and play to a similar level of August and September. And if they don't want february and march to look like october and December they need one wingback signing and one winger signing in the January window. Even if its just a loan move for 6 months. Or promoting yet another kid to give Lamine some rest and Lewa some rest. The big big issue is the fitness. The back 4 has been largely the same every game this season with balde missing one or two games because the other 3 cbs have been out injured. With the Cbs all coming back now (Araujo, christensen, and even Eric.) they should be fine. Midfield will be fine too but in the attack there are just too little options of real quality. Lewa is 36 and has played probably 90% of available #9 minutes. Yamal only missed time due to injury and Rapha has been subbed out the last 3-4 games at 60 minutes because he is also getting tired.
