@@nonondriessen ... Traitorous ? ? ? Sure, Shane has his limitations, as do we all, some are just more obvious than others, but refraining from focusing on those differences is by no means "traitorous", it is merely an appreciation for the uniqueness and talents that every individual brings to the table... Shane's physical limitations are between him and his doctor, and in no way reflect upon his value as an individual... focusing on the differences of others is more a reflection of the observers character than that of the one being observed...

I'm really glad to see that you are starting to be more direct with some people and telling them when they are being inappropriate. You've been so generous for a long time as far as your tolerance for questions from people who are completely naive to people with disabilities. I've had a bit of experience myself in that area. I'm an American Sign Language/English Interpreter and my kids' father is deaf. He speaks pretty clearly considering his hearing loss (which isn't entirely due to whether he had good Speech pathologists or he worked extra hard. Some people just seem to be better at speaking and lip reading than others.) In any case, people would often ask, or assume because they could understand his speech that he heard & understood more than he did. Then they'd get impatient or frustrated when he misunderstand or didn't "hear" someone behind him. And, I can't count how many times people would tell me how moved they were that I was so "kind" as to marry this "poor deaf man". So, I feel ya Hannah. He was always more patient than I. Maybe because he'd dealt with all that for many more years than I had. Still, after interpreting for more than 30 years, I still can't believe the things that people say to me about Deaf people. And, how "caring and kind hearted" I am to help "those poor people". Ugh. Nobody stops to think that THEY need me too! ie. they have a vested interest in making sure the deaf person understands what they're saying and that they understand the deaf person. And, if they knew ASL they wouldn't need me at all. LOL I try to remind myself that none of us know what we don't know. (but, jeez, if sometimes they'd just stop and think before they say or ask something it'd be a blessing to all of us! )

Hey guys, This is my first time commenting on any KZbin page or video at all, ever. So, first of all, you guys are awesome, amazing, loving people. I’m thrilled to have discovered your page! I am a elementary school Special Education educator who works with some of the most highly-impacted (in numerous and various ways) children in our school district. I appreciate watching both of you and learning about the amazing, open, and caring perspectives both of you have, and the humorous and tolerant ways that you address and respond to the sometimes awkward, and the (probably way too frequent) sometimes inappropriate questions and comments that you receive. I think that what you do makes a huge, positive impact towards helping people to learn and understand how to interact, communicate, and be more tolerant of the many differences that we all have. I only wish that more people (everyone!) could see your videos. I’m not super confident that out of the thousands of comments you endlessly receive that mine will even float past your radar or come to your attention in any way. Also, I’m sure that plenty of people have made this suggestion as well, but I’m throwing it out there anyway. You are probably already aware of this fellow, but I have only recently discovered him. I think it could be an incredible collaboration if the two of you could make a video with him and interview each other. Like I said, I only recently discovered him, so the little I know so far is that he was previously an educator, but then transitioned to his current role interviewing people from many places with various conditions, diagnoses, and differences. His page: Special Books by Special Kids. If you’re interested in pursuing that collaboration then I wish you luck with it and I will be eagerly anticipating the results! I would love to hear back from you if you have the time. Thanks, Jay

I nearly died of cancer in 2014. Towards what would have been my death, but wasn't thanks to a miracle, I discovered just how much energy it takes to talk. A healthy person might never realize it, but we all exert a lot energy when talking. In the worst stage of my cancer, my heart would race anytime I over exerted myself. Even to hold a ceramic plate of food was too much for my heart. If I was to hold my food while eating, it had to be on a paper plate. To walk anywhere, I had to walk very very very slow, and I couldn't walk far. If I overdid it, I could have had a heart attack. But with speech, it was simply too much at times. Speaking was impossible without making my heart race. I never knew before all this happened to me just how much energy we all use to talk. Add a party to the mix, having to speak louder, more intellectually, whatever, and that energy exertion increases a lot. So if a healthy person ever wonders why their exhausted after a lot of socializing and talking, it's because talking exerts a lot of energy. So it's no surprise to me to hear that with your condition you tire of talking. I'm glad to hear that you're getting more energy with the new treatment, but just know talking for everyone exerts a great deal of energy. It's okay to take a breather. 💕

My brother got to the point he couldn't swallow, his muscles were so weak. He decided against a feeding tube, and passed away about a month later. It was a TERRIBLE death. He was 19, had the heart of a 70 yr old. I've lost many relatives to Muscular Dystrophy. It is an evil disease! I'm a carrier:/

Was you told 50/50 chance? I never got any test done, but I have two healthy boys. Age 32 and 22.
@TinathePomMom2 жыл бұрын
@@donnahocutt395 I was so young. I was only told by my mom, that any boy I had would have it. I remember all the testing, the NEEDLES!! But, I didn't fully understand it all. I know as an adult, and after seeing all the ones in our family with it, that I don't believe that to be true now. My sister was adopted out at 3 weeks old to extended family. My parents didn't know at that time, that my brothers were going to have it, nor that she was a carrier. She had 5 children, three of them were boys (all approx. one year apart). The two oldest had it, the youngest did not. I had two aunts that had the same mom, as my mom, but different father. One had a son with it, the other had 3 boys - none had it. Another aunt (both same parents as mom), she had 3 boys. One had it, the other 2 did not.

I've actually wondered not so much about Shane's voice but about your storytelling and I've noticed Hannah "taking over" a story. This makes so much sense and is yet another thing that gives me a deep appreciation of your relationship. Thank you so much for sharing!!

You're joking, right? She's obviously a very well paid caregiver, nothing else. Their "marriage" is a farce. She has been seen with a very hunky guy, they just hide it well. Can't believe people actually believe these guy's are a couple. It's all for the money.
@amyball33423 жыл бұрын
@@OscarsMama Can you show or provide a source for her being with a hunky guy besides just hearsay? I'm being serious. I'm truly curious if there is any reliable evidence for this being a sham, besides your theorizing.

@@amyball3342 it leaked out on Twitter. But I don't remember whose. But yes, she admitted to being with the guy, of course, said it was just a friend. Then on their next post there was a lot of tension. When asked about it the comments Hannah said the tension was caused by a problem with a mutal friend. That's all I know.

I have been enjoying your videos for a long time and I have never noticed anything except how much I love listening to the two of you and how you always include us in your adventures! I see two really loving, amazing people who are head over heels in love. In this world we need to enjoy life and cherish the moments we are given and that is what I get from watching your videos ~ You both make me laugh and I love that you are not only entertaining but you seem to both have so much fun whether you are out and about, or just enjoying playing with Chloe. I love seeing Chloe and your parents. It must be a lot of work putting so much time and yourselves into making videos. Thank you for making us smile. That is what we need more of these days.

I had trigger point injections in the right side of my neck last year for pain relief and the doctor accidentally paralyzed my right vocal cord. I started coughing within an hour, had shortness of breath, chest pain, hard time talking. Of course it was 2020 C-19;they said but 7 negative tests later and a trip to the ENT doctor who dropped a camera down my throat saw my vocal cord was paralyzed and will not come back. So I too have trouble talking and swallowing, chocking on my own spit. I did try speech therapy but as the doctor said, it didn’t work but I wanted to try. So this video really interests me!! Thank you so much for sharing.

I'm always so impressed by the way you two handle these situations. (The ones where someone says or ask something so inappropriate and rude). I never understood how some people can behave this way. But, I'm always happy to see how you address this. By coming out for all to see and exposing this type behavior it helps others to be aware of what the proper way is to ask a question or address a situation. And hopefully teaches the one who had acted so badly to wake up and realize that we are all humans trying to survive and be happy with whatever life brings us. Love your videos!

Shane and Hannah, you two are the best pairing of people I have come across . You complement each other in through your support of each other. Shane your voice is fine but it does change as you speak for awhile. All in all you are not hard to understand when you talk. Hannah obviously recognizes when it is getting hard for you to speak and tries to help. It is amazing how effortlessly the two of you can change speakers as a presentation goes on. Don’t let negative people get you down. Stay safe and healthy.

This video has moved me so much that I want to share this. I have cerebral palsy, my speech is also moderately affected. To give a description, when I say words containing the letter r it's not as crisp as I would like it to be. it sounds kind of soft for lack of a better term. I've had people say some horrible things to me, one that comes to mind that bothers me more than some of the others is when someone said that I sound like I have a d*** in my mouth. People can be cruel. For what it's worth Shane I could understand every word you said even when you were tired I didn't even have to try to understand. I have to say that you are such an inspiration to me, both you and Hannah. Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
