Tipping culture is out of control, gov should set wage law for the servers wage , don’t expect on customers to cover the owners expense, restaurant owners feel free to increase the meal price.

a survey was done if customers preferred high price of food or tipping. 66% vote for tipping and 16% for rising prices. Now new surveys are showing that people are tired of the high amount of money people are paying in tips. The problem is that if the tipping is gone the owners are obligated to rice prices to pay the minimum amount of living to employees. Having a business isn’t cheap an owners can’t afford to pay what is required for the employee. That’s why they make $2 per hour plus tips. Now why other countries have well paid employees in restaurants compare to USA. As a foreign myself in other countries the customer has to wait longer hours to receive their meal, most people go out to eat as a social activity, people want to talk and take their time compare to USA that customers want their food as soon as possible, foreign countries have less staff, that’s why they make more money, USA have economic incentives to make money and work in a fast environment. The culture in other countries is slower and the customer service is differen

Even though I feel bad for waitresses I honestly think this is out of contol. Tip is based on service performance and only 10 to 15 percent maximum. I’m sorry if restaurants don’t pay enough, they charge a lot fir meals so rhey shouls have enough money to pay them decent. Is up to the waitress to stop restaurants from taking advantage, simply don’t work for cheap restaurants and you will see how quickly they raise the hourly rates.

One and only BEST solution to this nonsense. Just STOP tipping. Don’t feed entitlement. Customers are not responsible for their wages. Let the business owners pay their employees’ salaries. Put an end to this BS. Tipping is mandatory and should never be forced. I don’t tip. So everybody I request to stop, STOP TIPPING. This is the only way to bring a change. Don’t expect the greedy business owners to change. We, as customers, have to power to change this. Take this initiative and DONT EVER TIP, ANYWHERE.

As a former server it is horrible manipulation to act like they can’t pay their employees a livable wage, especially at big chain restaurants who spend millions of $ in marketing every quarter. I used to pay a base tip of $10 but I’m done leaving tips more than 10% unless the service is great. The culture needs to change, and America needs to wake up and demand more $ for their hard work without having to beg for it from other people that are struggling too

@@cateeed.0111 You get more money than if you were paid $15 an hour, but at the cost of making a worse experiece for the customer, and allowing restuarants to offset this cost to them. This breeds a culture of greedy companies asking for tips for everything and anything, and make people like you dependent and entitled to money that should not guaranteed, even if you act as if it should be. No tourist from Europe or Asia ever said they come to the U.S. and love the tipping culture in our restuarants. I bet if everyone stopped tipping then you'd change your tune about that $15 an hour real quick. Then you'd realize your money is dependent on charity and making people feel uncomfortable and peer pressured into giving you cash. Get real.

You do not have to tip. I almost never do unless it was truly exceptional. You get paid for what you do. Every server has been informed about their hourly wage and they agree upon it as they sign the job offer. If you want to get paid more try a different profession. If you want to achieve something, you go for it. Serving is not a sales or commission based job. Why should you expect people to pay you free money? their own hard earned money. People say “Standard tipping” - Why what is that?? Who has come upon with this magical 20% or 18% or the best one is if 8 or more mandatory…. hahaha. If you think you deserve to be paid more, you ask for it. If you do then you will. If you think your boss is an a**hole then you should leave that job. If you think you would not get another serving job, you are mistaken.

But the thing about Americans is that they expect it, and if you don’t give it to them, you’re a horrible person who doesn’t deserve to eat.😂 and corporations and companies love this, they love that servers and fast food workers are shaming people into tipping because they can pay their workers less and make customers pay their own workers😂
